Came here for a bottomless brunch but I only tried the non-alcoholic options for drinks. I got the chicken torta and it was pretty good flavor wise but the filling was light. I subbed my fries for the avocado tomato salad which was good because I wanted a lighter option but it was really just those two things and not much of a dressing or anything so the flavor was fairly plain.
My girlfriend got the poke bowl which was good but very basic toppings wise. Tuna, avocado, cucumber, tortilla strips. The sauce helped with boosting flavor, but it was a low variety of toppings.
I got a pasteis de nata which was ok/not good. The pastry had clearly been sitting in a chilled setting because the bottom was cold and got a little soggy (lost the trademark crispiness on the bottom) and to “warm it up” they just torched the top (which added a butane char aroma and flavor) and dusted some sugar on it. The only saving grace was that the custard tasted good but the custard was a bit overcooked (wasn’t smooth). Food-wise, seems like the typical kind of brunch spot that exists for the vibes and alcohol rather than good food, but the saving grace is that the a la carte entree prices aren’t terrible considering it’s in DC (which doesn’t make a difference for the bottomless brunch because it’s the same price for all entrees).
The drinks I got were the Waikiki (basically a passion fruit sprite but I liked it) and the Wishing Wells (also tasted like some flavoring + Sprite but less flavor than the Waikiki).
The service wasn’t good. Our server spilled some drink on my girlfriend’s dress and didn’t notice or say anything about it. They also pressured us to stay and drink more at the end? At least the food came out quickly.
Again, a typical brunch experience for the atmosphere, small-ish seating area + drinks =...
Read moreWhat can I say about Vagabond? Amazing! Everything was great from the space to the food to the drinks for a great price (especially for DC). I celebrated my birthday here with brunch and had a great experience. Here are some of my thoughts:
Environment It's a beautiful space that gives great natural bright light that adds to the peaceful and vibrant atmosphere. We came by for a Sunday brunch and it was pretty busy but not overly packed. They also have a rooftop but we decided to sit inside due to the cloudy weather that day. We really loved the space - it was comfortable and had a great ambiance.
Service Our server was great and attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. He was very friendly and helpful. We ordered bottomless mimosas and the drinks continued to flow and the food came out fast and efficient. Great service!
Food and Drinks They have a $44 brunch special that includes an entree and bottomless mimosas and a few other cocktail options. If you're a frequent bruncher in DC then you know that this is a great deal! The mimosas were good and the food was tasty. I had the pancakes, eggs and potatoes and also tried the King's sliders. All the food was pretty good and definitely worth the price and worth coming back to try other things off the menu. Definitely give it a try.
Overall Overall we really had a great time. It was a perfect place for my birthday with good drinks and food. The service was great and the ambiance was nice. I will definitely be back for more brunches and to try their dinner options. Highly recommend and can't...
Read moreCame here for a group brunch, and the experience was pretty good overall.
Pros: 1) The ambiance and decor were lovely. It's well-kept, clean, and bright. 2) The food portions are BIG. I ordered the chilaquiles and the rest ordered some variation of the big breakfast plate. We all were full after about 80%, good sized meals for sure. 3) The brunch drinks flowed well, our server was prompt with refilling our drinks. 4) The unlimited brunch drinks with one entrees for $48 was a great deal, definitely worth it considering the other DC brunch options.
Cons: 1) The dining room is tight--like, I reached in my right pocket and actually, accidentally hit a woman behind me at the next table with my elbow. Another patron was so close that she could turn around and tap our table without leaning in. 2) Some of our food came out lukewarm, not hot like the dishes should've been. 3) Our server David was a nice guy, but kept reaching over us to serve drinks across the table instead of coming over to the size of the person he was giving the drink too. A couple of times my mimosa almost spilled because he was stretching over half the table to avoid walking around the long way. Not a big issue, but definitely something we noticed.
It was a good experience, we had a pleasant time, and will most likely be back to try some of the...
