I recently visited Amigos Mexican Cuisine and Cantina, hoping for some what decent Mexican food , but it fell short. The queso, or their so-called “famous cheese sauce,” was nothing more than half-melted mozzarella, and the salsa tasted like blended tomato sauce with an overpowering amount of black pepper, lacking the fresh, zesty flavors that make a good salsa. On a positive note, our waitress was an absolute sweetheart, attentive and friendly, However, our experience took a downturn when we asked for the check and mentioned that the food was not good; the manager's response was to try and intimidate us rather than address our concerns professionally. Overall, Amigos Mexican Cuisine and Cantina does not offer authentic Mexican food, and the overall dining experience left much to be desired.
Since I could not respond to you I’ll just add to my review I was trying to be nice, but since you want to be rude, I will respond on your level. As someone who lives in Texas and frequently visits Mexico, I can confidently say your cheese tasted like it was melted in an old, dirty microwave and sprinkled with cayenne pepper. There was a giant ball of cheese in the middle of it. Considering your other “cheese dip” with chorizo was made with mozzarella, I don’t believe your claim that it wasn’t. Mozzarella is not the type of cheese used for queso or cheese dip.
We tried to pay, and you continuously refused. We did think the young lady serving us was great and tipped her generously. After seeing other people's food and experiencing the awful “cheese dip,” we decided not to order anything else. You then opened the menu, pointed at it, and asked what was wrong in an intimidating manner, and still, we remained very polite. I'm not sure what you having God in your life has to do with this, but good for you. Anyone that eats here and says it is good must have lost their tastebuds during Covid.I hope no one...
Read moreI took my mother here for the first time a few days ago and it was a bit of a disappointment. The food was not terrible. A tad bit greasy but not terrible. The margarita was great and the feel of the place good too. The staff were friendly and nice while taking our order and delivering our food. However both my mother and I can understand Spanish fairly well. My mother is far better at the language than I am. I can hear and comprehend better than I can actually speak the language. It was just a shame that the staff felt compelled to gossip and bad mouth us during the visit. My mother being called estúpida (stupid) for wanting burrito sauces on the side to see if she enjoyed them and I was called gordo (fat) for asking for a few extra tortillas for my fajitas. Never had an issue with the place before hand and it definitely rubbed me the wrong way. I understand staff will want to gossip but try not to do it in front of paying customers because you won't know who can or can not understand you.
Edit: Response to Owner. No I do not remember the names of staff at the time. But the date of service was 11/23/24. I understand that gossip will happen in customer service and I can't fault them for that however to do it in the front of the house is just distasteful. Hopefully it can be a learning experience...
Read moreWell we got seated right away. But then was put in a corner and no one seemed to know who our waitress was going to be. We waited at least 15 mins before someone even came to greet us and ask us what we wanted to drink. We were informed the drink menu was online and that I had to scan a qr code to get it. Ok we order drinks only to find out that my husband's drink a Sangria they were out of. After 15 more minutes if waiting for our drinks. Didn't apologize or ask us if we wanted anything different didn't even offer a drink menu to compensate and help pick a different drink. Nothing. We were waiting and waiting finally it seemed like forever but a nice older lady asked if everything was good and if we needed anything I said yes a drink menu and our waitress. Still didn't see our waitress for another 10 mins. It was the worst service ever. And then when we got our food my husband was brought his fajitas without his tortilla shells the pot holder to his plate was disgusting. Like at least give us a clean pot holder. I am so disappointed in the service we will not be going back. What a mess we were at the resturants for almost 2 HOURS during peak dinner time you would think they would want to get us in and out. Nope...
