Club 400 in downtown Waukesha is exactly the kind of place that feels familiar the moment you walk in. Nestled at 322 Williams Street, this bar & grill has been welcoming locals and visitors alike since 1948, and its historic charm is impossible to miss .
The menu ticks all the right boxes for a neighborhood hangout—steadfast favorites like buffalo chicken wings, pub burgers, pizza, and a tempting variety of appetizers are on offer . The food is great and reliably satisfying—customers often point to the wings and burgers as standouts .
But Club 400 is much more than food. The ambiance is a blend of friendly familiarity and genuine hospitality. Cesar, the owner (and former Navy veteran), along with the bartenders and staff, are welcoming and professional . The place strikes a perfect balance: updated and vibrant, yet still rooted in the vibe that made it a community staple .
History buffs and music lovers will particularly appreciate the legacy here—Les Paul first performed in this very spot, and it served as a launchpad for his collaboration with Mary Ford . That sense of heritage gives Club 400 real character.
On top of it all, the venue functions as a social hub. They host weekly happy hours, live music, bingo nights, and they feature the Clubhouse upstairs as a private event space, complete with a full bar, private restrooms, and catering capabilities—perfect for parties or gatherings .
Whether you’re stopping by for a beer and wings, descending into the history, or planning a lively gathering, Club 400 delivers both substance and soul. If you want a true taste of Waukesha’s past and present—served with excellent food and hospitality—this...

Came across this place and decided to give it a try because of the Les Paul history. Got seated and waitress took our orders. I will admit. Had I remember there was a packer game on today I most likely would not have eaten here. Was a little loud. Waitress was nice and came out and gave us a raffle ticket for end of game and we politely declined since we wouldn’t be staying for the game. She was pretty busy since she was the only one working behind the bar, but she still checked on us periodically. And the cook brought us our food and also checked on us in the middle of our meal. Despite that this may not have been my type of “atmosphere “ they still impressed us with their hospitality and professionalism. Might have to try it again when there...
Read moreWe recently hosted a private party upstairs at Club 400, and it was absolutely perfect. The space was ideal—comfortable, private, and well laid out for a group. We had our own bartender and bathroom, which made everything feel seamless and exclusive.
The food was a hit, especially the tater tot bar—highly recommend it! The owner was a pleasure to work with, very flexible and helpful when it came to planning the menu. It’s clear they care about making your experience a great one.
We chose Club 400 for our event because we’re already big fans from frequent visits downstairs for their amazing wings, and they did not disappoint. Highly recommend this place for both casual nights out and...
