We waited forever for them to put some tables together to accommodate our party. While we were waiting most of our party went inside to get drinks and all I wanted was a soda, I waited forever for my soda even though everyone else got their mixed drinks right away. We finally get seated and the waitress seems nice. We all place our drink orders, again all I wanted was a soda. I waited even longer for my soda this time, someone at our table got a frozen mixed drink before I got my soda. I decide to mention my lack of soda to the waitress because we all forget stuff and she tells me "yeah-uh I got it" like I'm riding her about it or something, so that wasn't very pleasant. I ended up saving half of my soda so I wouldn't have to ask her for another one. We order food and I got chicken chimichangas and someone at the opposite end of the table got steak chimichangas. The person at the other end of the table got her steak chimichangas and pretty much the whole table got their food except for me, all of sudden it was figured out that my chicken chimichangas were given to the steak chimichanga person so they gave me the chicken chimichangas that were meant for me and in the meantime I got my nachos that I had also ordered. It took so long for them to get the steak chimichangas out to the person who had ordered them that we were all almost done eating so they just asked them to put their food in a to-go container. My chimichangas were amazing. The rice and beans were very generic and meh. The nachos were a big pile of slop. Almost none of the chips were crisp and that's right after I got them. The meat looked like it had already been eaten and then digested onto the chips, it was extremely bland and for some reason it was really grainy. They put a big pile of white melted cheese onto the chips and diarrh- oh I mean meat and topped it all off with some limp and sad avocado slices. I paid quietly and didn't say anything because I'm done with this restaurant. I have been here multiple times throughout the years and I have never had a good experience or good food until this night and I ate the chimichangas. Skip this place and go to Margaritas, the food is better there and so is the service. I gave two stars instead of one because of the...
Read moreHorrible experience. This is my third time going there but first time for anything but brunch. After this experience I don't think I'll return. Just about everything from the entire experience was bad. To not bore you with too many details, I'll address only a few issues we had. We went for a Father's day lunch. The service was probably the worst I've ever had in my life. The server was rude and seemed to ignore everything we asked for. When we spoke to her she didn't respond so it was hard to tell if she heard us or not. It was this constant guessing game of if we would get what we had just asked for. More often than not we didn't and had to find other ways to get service, as she seemed to want to do anything but help us. We ordered the nachos appetizer. It came with a plate of cheese and avocado covered chips. We found some refried beans on the plate under the chips. There were no beans on the chips. Where was everything else that's supposed to be on the nachos you ask? We also wanted to ask that. Unfortunately the server didn't return for about 20 minutes, so we never got the chance. When she for return, it was with our entrees. I got the chilles rellenos. It was supposed to be filled with cheese, but whatever liquid poured out of the peppers was definitely not real cheese. The tortillas it came with were cold and there was no flavor to anything. I could barely touch it. Others in my party had similar experiences with their food. It tasted old and poorly made. However, the server did not return to check on the food quality. Instead we were left with empty drinks, horrible food and no one to talk to about this. Overall bad food, but I've had very good food here before so I'm going to assume that whoever was in the kitchen today was just bad. However, in my opinion as a food service professional, if the woman who was our server today hates her job as much as she acted like it, she needs to find a new profession. Hey attitude was extremely off-putting. You can find a lot of good Mexican restaurant in this area where the servers actually want customers. I'd go there and skip La Estacion...
Read moreMy experience dining here has been primarily with their Sunday brunch buffet, although I have also been here a handful of times for a regular lunch.
The quality of the food for the buffet was great, and it seemed to be replenished very frequently. It's worth it for the ribs alone. There is a good mix of traditional American breakfast food as well as some authentic Mexican food, so you don't need to worry if you don't particularly like Mexican cuisine.
My biggest complaint about the buffet is how cramped everything was. There also isn't any start and stop point marked for the buffet, so people are milling around in all directions. I constantly felt like I was in someone's way, or vice-versa.
There's a made-to-order omelette station, which is very popular but they didn't leave enough room in front for people to form an actual line, nor is there any sort of cordone set up to indicate where people should stand if they're waiting in line.
The food is also laid out in an odd fashion that doesn't seem very intuitive. There's a station where you can get a fresh, hand-made tortillas. Which is great, but they put juice, a salad bar, and chips next to it. You CAN get meat and sour cream/salsa for it... On the other end of the crowded buffet. This wouldn't even be a problem if there was an actual path to follow through the buffet.
I would also recommend asking to NOT be seated in one of the train cars if you can help it. They are freezing in the winter, sweltering in the summer, and they naturally amplify and reverberate any sound made inside of them... God help you if there's a screaming infant in the same train car as you.
The regular, sit-down lunch is always terrific with impeccable service and I would not hesitate to recommend that aspect of la estacion to anyone. The inside of the restaurant has a nice intimate feel, although I cannot stress enough to avoid sitting in...
