KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot — Restaurant in Wauwatosa

While the food quality was good, the service was so poor that we won’t be returning. Waiter’s name was: Anu

It started with our waiter forgetting about us for the first 15 minutes after seating us. We had to flag down a different server just to get some attention. When our hot pot ingredients finally arrived, we still hadn’t received our sodas — and I had to stop our server again as he was walking away just to remind him about the drinks. I also had to ask him about the tablet. Didn’t bother to show us. We had to tell him that it wasn’t reset and still had someone else’s table assigned on the tablet.

About an hour into eating, we were ready to wrap up. I went to the restroom while my fiancé stayed at the table to wait for the bill(we had waived him down and asked). 5-10mins goes by and I decide to use the restroom. On my way to the bathroom, I saw our waiter standing at the front of the restaurant gossiping and laughing with 3–4 other staff members. He noticed me. He eventually dropped off the bill while I was in the bathroom, no one came back. (He likely realized I was eyeing him as I made my way to the bathroom, which is why he gave us the bill).

We waited another 10–15 minutes before I finally walked to the front myself to pay since he never came back to pickup our card/bill. One staff member looked like she might actually help — she took the bill out of my hands, and for a second I thought we were finally being checked out. But instead of helping, she just walked us back to our table and made us wait again for our original waiter. Ridiculous. Not sure why they can’t ring us up especially after I made it clear that I was pissed off. Their manager must not know how to train and choose employees.

To make things worse, they advertise fish cakes as part of the buffet/appetizers, but they weren’t available. Our waiter insisted they were there. When I asked him to show us, he said he’d check — and then completely ghosted the conversation. Never brought it up again, never clarified. Just dismissed it without a word.

Between the lack of attentiveness, the unprofessional behavior from multiple staff members, and the general disorganization, I absolutely do not recommend coming here. We definitely won’t be back.

Pros: Food wasn't horrible, fresh, nice selection, and plenty of options to make sauces.

Cons: Poor service - Staff did not seem fully trained, workers cannot work under pressure when its busy. Lots of employees just laundering around while others are running around working hard. 2. Forced tip - Already on bill, tips are based from service not how many people are present. Not a stingy tipper either so they definitely won't be getting anything else. Tipping culture in America is so overrated. They limit a lot of bbq meat options after you order so many (lol definitely not ready for all you can eat service) Broth refill they label it "Vege" but straight up water and doesn't add flavor. Other places you recieve actual bone broth that is milky colored. We had to ask multiple times for water before they delivered it to our table 🤦🏻‍♀️ (Were already halfway into our food) We're in America not Asia and we got our bill a whole hour before we were even done eating so it made us felt rushed to get out - It was kinda rude lol 2 employees must have heard us complain about service and they kept staring at our table and they were laughing. If you have something to say please say it to our faces lol we're very confrontational people. Instead of talking smack and looking back at us each time you speak. Very unprofessional

Very good food very fresh! The interior is very nice and the servers are great and so lovely. However, I had two complaints with this specific location. First, when I go to a Korean bbq I’m hoping to hear Korean music. At this location the playlist was horrible, it wasn’t kpop or any Korean music. It sounded like a 50 year old white man took hold of the playlist and played 80s screaming rock music. And towards the end started playing Christian rock music. Nothing against that music it’s just not what I look forward to hearing when I go to a Korean bbq and it nearly ruined my experience. Lastly, there were a couple times I heard the management speaking harshly to the servers which I felt bad because they were really nice and did a great job. You could tell they seemed nervous. Overall, I would still recommend going here. Their food was really good and fresh and came out fast, the service was lovely and it’s a cool interior. I just hope they work on...
