The food is 7-10. Some dishes are good, others are very good, and some are very exceptional. If the worst you get is good, have no worries. We live in Oshkosh but made the drive just to eat breakfast here! Service was so exceptional that we left $20 on a $59 bill.
Blintz vs crepes
The crepes are good 7/10, but I would pick the blintz over the crepe every day. Blintz are 9/10.
Sausage links are very large and outstanding quality! You get 4 per order. There is enough to share with another person. But order one for each person, you'll want extra to take home. 9.5/10. The only sausage links I've had in my life that were better are reindeer sausage in Alaska
Hash browns (hollandaise), the star(s) of the show, The hash browns are nearly perfect. Extra crispy, fluffy and light, but slightly dry. I am VERY glad they do not overdo the amount of oil they use. A side of hollandaise is only $2, and is enough for 2 order of hash browns. Without the hollandaise, the hash browns are a solid 8.5 for me. With the hollandaise they are a solid 9.9. I could eat these all day long.
We got here almost right away when they opened. We had always come later. If you go early the place is quiet, you don't have to wait for a table and the food comes so fast you'll think the roadrunner has to be in the kitchen. If you go later in the morning you'll have to contend with the availability of parking, waiting for a table, and the noise. These 'negatives' are all hallmarks of an amazing place. Driving 1h 15m one way just to eat here, is incredibly worth it.
Great thanks to the kitchen and the waitstaff. You guys are amazing. Your efforts make us happy, content, full, and even though we were bursting at the seams, we still want just...
Read moreRude, Unprofessional, poorly trained!!! Attn: Owner I been a customer for the past 8 years. I work across the street. The quality of service has majorly declined over the past year or two. I used to order here almost daily. Now, its very rarely.
I’ve eaten many times at the Maxfield’s on Brown Deer/Port Washington. Always experienced reliably abundant good food, served quickly. The same is true here at the Mayfair area restaurant. This was our first visit to this location. I had the breakfast combo that included eggs, hash browns, bacon AND sausage, plus two crepes ($10.99). I paid extra to have fruit added to the crepes ($1.99). This used to come with a small glass of fresh squeezed orange juice but that has disappeared from the menu. Our other order was the country fried steak breakfast which came with potatoes, two eggs, two fried steaks with gravy and two pancakes. You get your choice of what kind of potatoes and what kind of side dish (could have had toast instead of the pancakes). The coffee was strong (which I like) and our cups were refilled as needed. We also had large glasses of ice water and extra napkins.
It was a good, filling breakfast served with skill by a very competent waitress. Wait staff personnel were wearing masks. The restaurant was clean and comfortable.
I ordered my eggs scrambled. They tasted like hotel buffet eggs; I suspect they were not fresh eggs but the type that come in a big bag or pitcher. I would order over medium or some other way next time. Also, when we arrived the hostess was talking on her phone. She lifted two fingers at us which we signaled was correct, grabbed two menus and directed us to a table all without ending or interrupting her phone call. Not a great first impression. These are the reasons for a 4 instead of 5 star review.
The food was good overall and we would definitely go there again...
