I dropped by today for lunch. I believe their first day was yesterday.
It's a nice looking place, all white and blue themed. Very classy look, in my opinion. The staff was ultra-attentive.
I was seated right away and browsed the menu. I opted for their ALAMBRE appetizer. The waitress didn't sell it very well when I asked what type of fajita meat was used, stating 'it is some brown meat'. She is new. It's ok.
When I asked if it could be make with fajita chicken she told me yes, so I ordered it up, along with an unsweet ice tea. The owner came by and noticed I didn't have any chips and salsa and rushed that over.
The chips were a thick yellow corn chip, a little too thick for my tastes and the salsa a thin salsa much like Uncle Julio's, but lacking the flavor profile. I could have used a little more kick, for me, anyway.
My food arrived and I was somewhat surprised at the presentation. I kick myself for not capturing a picture now. It was fajita chicken, bell peppers, pickled jalapenos, onions and oaxaca cheese all mixed together. It is exactly what the menu stated, but it seemed to me it could have had a little better presentation. A single quarter slice of tomato and some shredded lettuce was piled on one end. When I looked at their Facebook post of the same item, they were clearly more attentive to that dish than the one delivered to my table.
Three, what appeared to be handmade flour tortillas, accompanied the dish.
Looks aside, the meal was very filling, despite being an appetizer. Although, it wasn't hot, either in temperature or spice level. #OpeningWeekIssues, that's to be expected.
When the check arrived, I noticed they had already added 18% gratuity to the bill. It seems odd to do that for a single person. When I looked back, alter, at the receipt, I see they showed I was at Booth B1, with 7 guests, which is what likely triggered the automatic gratuity. Alas, I was not with 6 additional guests, I was alone, with all my friends.
Overall, it wasn't a bad experience and I know it will get better.
One particularly bad aspect of this location, however, is the parking. I parked in an open spot in front of the building, which is adjacent to a Tropical Smoothie joint with a drive thru.
The drive thru wrapped in front of the building and behind my car, so I had to wait about 6 minutes to get enough space freed up to maneuver my Mini Cooper to freedom.
Next time, park way off to the left, away from the smoothie drive thru, I told myself.
Good luck, Omar, I am sure I will be back with my wife since she is a breakfast taco junkie. Omar's Taco Bar serves breakfast...
Read moreThe food and drinks I ordered were terrible! I called in an order for Chicken Caldo, for my sick wife. She literally took one bite and was in the bathroom within 5 mins. I wish I had taken a picture, however, after I tasted the food, it was so bad I spit it out and immediately threw it in the trash.
The chicken was a measly amount for the price. It was dry and tasted bad, as in SPOILED. Like old chicken from days ago.
The soup itself looked like they just found random ingredients in the kitchen and threw it in some boiled water with whatever chicken leftovers they scraped up in the back of their deep freeze. The “broth” had a funny after taste (probably the chicken), it was bland and gross. The veggies were asparagus, broccoli, green beans (which are not regular, Mexican chicken soup ingredients) yellow squash and a couple of bites of potato (the squash and potatoes are the only veggies they got right).
The beverages were 2 Aguas Frescas or “fresh waters”. So, meaning everything is fresh, all fruits are cut up fresh and the ingredients are fresh… I got some tang flavored, watered down mango syrup and watered down horchata syrup.
So after my 15 min pick up wait, which was impressive (now I know why it was such a short wait time) 20 min round trip (which initially I didn’t mind), 15 min wait while there, and about $30 later (for one bowl of soup and 2 drinks, that I had to trash), I’m EXTREMELY dissatisfied and disappointed with the quality of the food and drinks I received. I am not interested in trying anything else at this establishment and will not be going back, except for a refund.
The staff was polite and helpful, the establishment clean, and the atmosphere was fine. No complaints there. The 1 star is for the food. I went for food, which I purchased for my sick wife and it made her even more sick.
For the establishments future reference, if a customer calls and asks if you have Caldo, and kitchen knows you’re out, just let the customer know. I would have gladly waited until tomorrow morning for a fresh soup or would have ordered...
Read moreTerrible Experience with DoorDash Orders – Avoid at All Costs! And No the problem was not DoorDash
I’ve been a loyal customer of Omar’s restaurant for a long time, but after this experience, I will never be ordering from them again, nor will I recommend them to anyone. Ordering through DoorDash was an absolute nightmare.
First, they confirmed our order, only to completely ignore it for 20, 30, even 40 minutes! The restaurant kept changing their times, and instead of preparing the food as promised, they continued to ignore both our order and the Dasher who was there waiting. It was clear they had no intention of fulfilling it, but rather than cancel it upfront, they let us waste our time.
Even if we weren’t physically at the restaurant, we were still paying customers who deserved to be prioritized. Instead, they deliberately chose to ignore us, leaving us with no food and wasted time when we could have ordered from somewhere else. If they were too busy, they should have canceled immediately, not dragged the situation out just to cancel later.
This was not just bad service—it felt intentional and completely unacceptable. The lack of customer service and disregard for loyal customers speaks volumes. I will never order from them again.
In response to Omar, I have all the communication with the dasher and the location was at the restaurant the entire time, he said he was ignored several times and was told the food was never made and Omar said the kitchen was too busy after 20 minutes went by and he was still waiting Omar ask us if we still wanted the food, to which we said yes, and Dasher was still ignored and food was never made, then closing time came around and Omar decided to cancel the order. We even called Omar’s directly they confirmed the order and then they canceled. We have all the text, we called Dasher support and they were the ones that refunded the money. Dasher was there the whole time and communicated with us. So no it didnt happen like you responded. We placed the order at 9:30 and our order was canceled close to 11:00 pm....
