This was my first experience at Rosa's Café and sadly it will probably be my last. Let's start with the fact that it's not a traditional sit down. As soon as you go in, you have to be ready to order. Which I don't mind, but being this was my first time here, there was not enough time to truly look at the menu. I ordered the food and was given my cups and a receipt. I asked the cashier what I needed to do if, I could sit down or did I have to wait for the food? She said to sit down and when my number was called to go pick up. Exactly what I did, my order was large and they could not help me take one tray. I got one and then my wife saw that no one was going to help so she came and got the other tray. We sat down and had our food. The food was over seasoned specially the chicken fajitas, which I could only taste salt. The beef fajitas were good but some were burnt. The beans had no flavor and neither did the rice. However the biggest let down was their famous flour tortillas, which felt more like I was chewing on rubber than the soft buttery goodness that a flour tortilla is suppose to taste like. I don't know if they were undercooked or what but I don't think flour tortillas are suppose to stretch when you are biting into them. So I give the food 2 stars, the service 2 stars, only because the person cleaning the tables was so helpful and 4 stars because the atmosphere was nice and colorful. In my opinion if you are wanting a traditional text-mex sit down restaurant with good food it's best you skip this one. Once again, it my opinion and you should form your own, but, as for me, I will not be going back...
Read moreWe used to go to the one in Mansfield frequently, and we enjoyed their food and liked the place. So we were excited when they built one in Waxahachie. But to my disappointment, it's nothing like the one in Mansfield. I went inside and ordered a beef taco plate to go for my daughter. I came at a time that was slow for the establishment. Once inside, there were only 2 couples aside from myself when I ordered my meal. I waited there for my number to be called, I saw the lady who's bringing out the orders and I believe taking drive thru orders also brought a couple of bags to go and she just left them on the counter. I still waited... but when I thought it's taking so long, I went ahead and checked one of the bags, and the lady who took my order said, "may I?" And sure enough, it's my order. My issues are, first, they just left the food without letting anyone know that it's ready. Second, when I got in the car, the food was cold, so I don't know if they gave me an order that was already sitting there from earlier in the day. My daughter complained that she could barely taste the beef in beef taco, which was almost non-existent. So this experience wasn't as pleasant as the times my family and I have had in the past in the Mansfield location. I'm hoping that this is just a growing pain for them as they improve their service and...
Read moreWe ordered the 2 dozen pork tamales with the cheese and salsa. Oh those tamales were so fresh. Years ago I bought tamales from a lady in my home town. I never ordered from anyone else because her's were always the very best. Rosa's tamales are a close second. We loved the cheese dip that came with them too. Two days later we ordered another dozen and a pint of rice. The rice is great. The only complaint I have is the second time around i asked for salsa and she assured me it came with it. We got all the way home and no salsa . It was ok bcuz we still had some left over from the order before. Try these, you won't regret it! We didn't go in so I can't say anything about the atmosphere, but I've been eating Rosa's for 25 yrs and it's...
