Short review: find another urgent care or go to the actual emergency room. Long detailed review: My wife took our daughter to the new Waxahachie location after two weeks of continuous coughing and sinus drainage. We were primarly concerned about strep throat and no relief from OTC cough remedies. So she saw nurse practioner Jesilinah Mwanyalo and she prescribed an antibiotic and cough syrup. She did test for strep with a negative result, hence the two stars. When I returned the next day for a school note, my daughter was up coughing all night, I asked the medical provider why she would prescribe that particular cough medicine given the patient history of on going OTC treatments. The cough medicine prescribed consisted of the ingredients in Benadryl, Sudafed and Robitussin. The nurse practioner informed me that I was not allowed to question her and I could tell her feelings were a little hurt. So I changed my approach and informed her that I felt her treatment was ineffective because my daughter was coughing all night and failed to make it to school. With exaggerated gesturing, I was told I was being rude and she went to school. I informed her that I too went to school and had a comfortable grasp of the words "ineffective treatment." So with that statement I was told that a white man, who was not a doctor, would not be allowed to think that her treatment was ineffective. Realizing that I would not receive an answer as to why she would continue treating a cough with the same medicine that did not work; I reminded her that she too was not a doctor. Nurse Practioners are very helpful to certain settings, but any medical personnel who is so precariously perched on their abilities to weather a course of treatment question is dangerous.
Apparently in Mwanyalo's country mere mortals are not allowed to question a...
Read moreI don’t typically like to leave negative reviews but this was money and time wasted. Came in because of severe abdominal pain, vomiting — the whole thing. I haven’t been able to keep anything down for 12 hours and the stomach cramps had me on the ground, which was my main complaint. Nurse had to take my blood pressure 3 times because of the equipment, never asked if was dehydrated, or took my temperature. I had to ask for water. I told them I had a history with this sort of pain and it was a bacterial infection that required antibiotics to treat.
All they did was make me pee in a cup to test “bacteria” (which wasn’t even sterile itself because they’re paper disposable coffee cups just stacked in the restroom on a pee pad) & the whole bathroom reeked of urine and the floors were nasty. The doctor did a physical exam of just pressing on different organs and told me it wasn’t my appendix — which I knew that because the pain wasn’t there.
Despite telling the staff we were dealing with infertility and I’d just had a negative test, they ran one anyway (and this is kinda understand, but just another thing to pay for) and I’m just assuming it was negative because they never told me the results.
After being there from 3 hours in writhing pain, I was told it was something I’d eaten and given a prescription for anti-nausea medication. While waiting to be discharged, the nurse came back and asked if I’d like to be tested for Covid or the flu…. So.. is it something I ate or you actually don’t know? Still walked out doubled over in pain, no actual answer, or referral if anything continued. Nothing for anti-spasms, or even offered ibuprofen for the pain I was in.
I will say the front desk man and discharge nurses were very compassionate. But that’s not enough to waste time and money with no actual...
Read moreI visited Expedian Urgent Care in Waxahachie two years ago and had such an exceptional experience that I searched them out again today with an urgent need. Again, I was very much impressed with the professionalism and courtesy of all staff. They even kindly waited for me to rush over from work. The entire experience was smooth, efficient and most pleasant. Before, they even phoned me afterward to find out how I was doing. The physician was personable and knowledgeable. I was completely satisfied with today's outcome and feel absolutely grateful to have access to Expedian!
I returned to Expedian today, a few years later, and experienced the same level of efficiency and concern. The front desk ladies were courteous and pleasant! Both providers were attentive and knowledgeable. I feel that my issue was thoroughly addressed and I feel confident in the outcome. The providers were patient, thorough, and friendly. I did not feel rushed in any way! My prescriptions were sent promptly! I am relieved that I was able to have my issue so well addressed.
A new review, May 9, 2024: I had a new and somewhat unusual situation arise, and I returned to Expedian again today because previous experiences have been excellent! I was not disappointed. Front desk staff are professional, friendly, and efficient. I find this clinic to be very clean and well organized. The employees work together as a seamless team. But perhaps my favorite part is the quality of care and the professional, attentive, and knowledgeable approach provided by the Physician Assistant, Steven and the medical professional, Isaac. Steven quickly understands your situation and takes time to listen to you. Isaac is very thorough, experienced, and exceptionally kind and understanding! I would...
