Went for lunch on 10/10/19. Staff was friendly, but didn't seem to care much about us, from taking our order all the way through the end of the meal. Restaurant was not swamped, so not sure what issues were. Then came the food. Pork rinds for an appetizer. I ordered the brisket platter with two sides--mac'n'cheese and baked beans. My co-worker ordered the sampler platter. Pork rinds were hot and well seasoned. We really liked them and it made me look forward to the brisket platter even more. When we got our plates, they looked good, but that glimmer faded fast. My brisket was really dry and really tough. Smoke flavor was good. If you've had good brisket before, you can spot bad brisket a mile away. It just didn't look like I anticipated. My coworker's sampler suffered my plight and took it to the next level. Every meat, save the andouille sausage, were extremely dry. Pulled pork, chicken, brisket, and even the ribs. I was given a rib (see picture) and part of a sausage. The rib was very tough, very dry. Smoke flavor was good. Not sure why all of the meats were dry and tough. My buddy said everything was better the last time he came here over a year ago. Mac'n'cheese was more greasy than cheesy. Baked beans were fairly good. Also had good smoke flavor. Cole slaw was average. It was more dry than I prefer, but was just ok. I probably would look to try other bbq spots if I went back to the area than go back here. There needs to be a quality check on the meats. Smoke flavor is good, but you cant ruin the different meats across the board.

Really enjoyed the lunch, the staff, and the atmosphere. Our hostess was pleasant and quickly saw to our seating. The waitress and floor staff were very fast in service, frequently checking on you for sufficient drinks and additions or corrections to orders. They were willing to make recommendations and friendly to chat with, despite a busy dinning floor. The Deconstructed Bloom was fried to perfection with a very pleasant remoulade dipping sauce. The Super Fly sandwich was more than a mouthful. I had to partially disassemble the sandwich to be able to eat it comfortably. The blend of flavors with the sweet Thai chili sauce and brown sugar bacon over chicken strips was superb. The red skin potato salad was very good and not over seasoned. Also, got a Smokehouse Burger and Fries to go. The 1/2 lb meat was cooked to perfection with a light seasoning and complimented the onion petals and smoked bacon. This was an excellent lunch and we have every intention of returning to sample the many varieties of options on the menu.

I'm hoping I still have a picture of the reheated roast beef they called "brisket" I was craving BBQ. In a moment of weakness I went to the Fishing Pig. I know better. But, I wasn't about to roll out my Akorn, fire up a chimney of coals, and prep some pecan chunck before trying to find a whole packer. It was cold, and I was hungry. I ordered brisket with a ceaser salad and green beans. I wanted collards, but they were out. The bartender was polite and got my order in and salad out in no time. The salad had been prepped before lunch rush, which caused some lettuce wilt, but nothing terrible. Then comes the brisket. Eating the brisket felt like walking home in wet socks, after losing a fight. It was a miserable experience. The meat had no smoke flavor, wasn't really even seasoned, and the only moisture it contained was from the half pan of grease it sat limp amongst, in a warmer, hoping for the end. I won't be doing this again.

Sad to write this, as we've been going to The Fishin' Pig since it first opened and have always loved it. Yesterday...not so much. The food was good, but the service was pretty terrible. Sorry if this sounds like a rant, but our experience was disappointing for a place where we've spent hundreds if not thousands over the years.

When we arrived, the hostess asked if we'd be okay with a high-top. We said sure--we always sit on the bar side where the high-tops are. But the table she sat us at was not an actual high-top--it was a shorter round one right by the doorway. While this wouldn't matter to most people, everyone in my party was over 6 feet tall, and you have to hunch over to eat your food at that lower table. I asked her if we could sit at an actual high-top, and she said, "No, that's in a different server's area." Having worked as a restaurant hostess before, I know that it is possible to seat guests at tables where they are more comfortable, regardless of server assignment, so this response surprised me.

We let it slide and settled into our (lower) table. The server greeted us and was very friendly. We ordered beers--which she brought promptly--and perused the menu. The food also arrived quickly. But other than briefly passing by to ask if everything was okay, at which time we ordered drink refills, the server never came back. That second round of beers never arrived, and my son was completely out of water. We basically had nothing to drink with a BBQ meal.

We asked a gentleman who appeared to be front-of-house manager if he could get the beers we had ordered. He said that he "couldn't enter them in the system" (and didn't bother to check if they already had been) but would find our server. Then he came back and shrugged, stating that he couldn't find her and "maybe she was in the bathroom." At this point, we were pretty thirsty. :-)

We eventually saw the server and waved her down, telling her to just bring us the check. And whaddya know--we were billed for the two beers we never received. When we mentioned this to her, she said, "Oh wow, they never came." I guess because she never brought them? No apology for forgetting or for leaving us high and dry. Just a flippant "oh-well" attitude, which was honestly what we got from staff all around yesterday.

I know that it's been hard to get service staff lately, but there were plenty of people on the floor, and this was in between lunch and dinner so not a real busy time. We left feeling pretty deflated (and parched) and will probably not come back anytime soon. And if we do, we'll just...

I love Farmville and Norfolk locations. Not a great experience at Waynesboro today. The server had something personal going on that required frequent texting. If the issue was that bad, deal with that instead of pretending to work. I get having an emergent issue, but either deal with that 100% or ignore it until you get off work, like most of us do. Talked to the hostess who suggested moving to the bar, which we did. That was better because it was nicer than the stark room we were in. We noticed that none of the employees were clicking and it felt like a general lack of management and leadership. The band started setting up on the outdoor stage, but then must have been told to set up inside, so they broke down a whole drum set and moved it to a small room. That was likely going to be loud, so we didn't stick around. Seems the restaurant doesn't have staff to support outdoor seating, but plenty of customers. We ended up enjoying the food as expected, but it is the second time having issues with service at this location. We could see other patrons having a similar experience; a distressed server scrambling around to keep up. It may be just me, but I never want a server stressing over the amount of tables while anxiously texting to deal with whatever. Just stay home and prioritize your life, and if management has their act together, they should have backup coverage in place. Seems this place is operating in crisis mode, so not sustainable. If you can't expend the $$ and effort to keep a sufficient number of employees engaged and happy, then switch to counter service and lower expectations, or just close the place and focus on your other two locations. Three employees knew we were unhappy, and only the hostess did anything meaningful to change that (recommending to move to the bar). If there was a manager on duty, we didn't get to meet them. The lack of leadership was clearly on display tonight. I love your food and hope that you can get to a similar standard for customer service. Other reviews mention slow service... Get your team built! Not sure what the scene is in the kitchen. The Mac and cheese and the baked beans are great. I smoke my own meats when not traveling, so I'm used to more smoke flavor,...

Only gave 1 star cause couldn't give anything less. Visiting area, was looking for some place good to eat. Husband looked up place while waiting for me to come out of walmart getting things we needed. As we drove up seen a lot of cars thought this was a good sign. We ordered appetizers with our drinks. I was excited to see fried green tomatoes so i ordered some, also got basket puppies, chicken wings. As a southerner very disappointed in fried green tomatoes as it was an unknown crust like a panko... (no true southerner does this way) and no flavor. For our lunch we ordered Grady's smoke shack sampler & sam's seafood plater. With us getting 2 platters offered to change out coleslaw/hush puppies on one so wouldn't have so much. Meat was smoked but theres no flavor or taste to it seasoning nothing! Pork was dry, ribs not great nor was brisket. Only thing half good was sausage. Seafood platter.. not fan having so much fried wished gave more grilled option. Sides got potato salad and collard greens. Can get better premade potato salad from walmart. Collard greens would've made any southerner mom/ grandma turn in their grave. Absolutely no flavor plain straight out can taste. Real greens are cooked with ham hock, some bacon, onion etc seasoning something to give that perfect blend of heat, sweet & spices. I mean its a cute looking place but not a true staple of how southern cooking should be. Sorry to say but for the price we paid of 2 people for over $160 we WON'T be back. Waitress at bar was only plus side from here she seen how unhappy we was offered to try get us something else but we both said no after trying platters offering what was supposed be their...
