Panera Bread — Restaurant in Waynesboro

I arrived at 2:00 when business was slow. I went to the drive-through line and waited behind a silver 4-door sedan for more than 5 minutes with no signs of movie g forward. I parked and went inside. There were 3 people in line, and one register open . There were no kiosks for placing orders. Eack senior citizen took several minutes to place an order. No other cashiers opened a line. When I finally got to the line,, i explained that i needed a take-out order as quickly as possible because i was on my way to a meeting. The cashier asked, "is this for here or to go?". I ordered my side item when I ordered my sandwich. She the asked if I wanted chips, baguette or apple as a side. She definitely was not paying attention. My sandwich was thrown together and hald-wrapped. The pickle was a pathetic piece of peel. They were out of lemons and did not refill the bin. I usually live Penera, but I won't go back...

I was initially impressed - this is a huge Panera with a very family-oriented space inside. However, it turned out that they only had 3 kinds of bread left. Admittedly, this was 7pm on a Sunday night - but to have such a limited bread selection is a poor show for a Panera.

When I placed my order, it took the server 3 times to get it right. I couldn't decide if they just weren't paying attention properly or didn't know how the menu works. I had to point and read from the board before I could convince them that I could add half a sandwich to my lentil/quionoa bowl. Finally, said sandwich was bleh - I can get a better grilled cheese at home. My lentil/quionoa was mostly ok (some of the ingredients were clumped up in a lump).

I was sorely tempted to give this Panera 2 stars. However, it was late on a Sunday (2 hours before closing), so I'll give them the benefit...

Anybody who gives this place more than two stars should be made to work behind the counter for a month at the very least. I worked there several years ago as a dishwasher and for a short time as food prep. They will work their employees into a full on mental breakdown. Always short staffed and always filthy. The back of house was constantly swarming with fruit flies. I was the only one who knew how to do dishes since everyone else seemed to think that the sanitizer box was some magical cleaning device, stacking bowls on top of bowls full of half eaten salads so they came out the other end soaking and disgusting. The food is bland enough as it is but having spent time working there? I would personally never eat there again in my life. I only gave one extra star because I worked with some genuinely nice people who made things...
