My family and I visited Plaza Azteca this past weekend, and my experience was such that I find myself here reviewing it. The outdoor space is nice, but the experience is terrible. We walked in, requested to be outside, and found ourselves a picnic table. The hard rock band booked was an interesting choice for the dinner hour, but whatever. We ordered dinner at the bar (which you have to order outside), which included guacamole and chips. The staff never told us to wait for the guacamole and chips, nor did they come to find us. We had to sit there and look around at the folks with chips, then go back to the bar and wait in line to finally get our appetizer. Indeed, when we ordered, we DID ask if the food was picked up at the bar or brought to our table (we were given a number) and they indeed said to our table. They were quite aware it was our first time there - that was mentioned to them by us. Something in the guacamole had this crazy effect on my son - he is twelve - and he started asking for water. He appeared distressed about whatever he had just eaten. So I go to the outside bar and ask for a little water. They could sell me a bottle, but they don't have cups. They told me to go inside and ask at the inside bar, which was fine. So I go inside, and after I ask for just a little water for my son, they tell me I have to buy something. I tell them I've already spent $80 on dinner outside, and I am told I still have to buy something. Classy.
So... gotta say... this place is dead to me. My wife hated the guacamole, I thought it was fine (you know my son's response). The entrees were fine I guess. The service and the policies... well, I will never go again and regret ever setting foot in there if they can't give a small cup of water for a kid. It is absolutely the least one could ask for, and the least a restaurant...
Read moreMy husband and I, along with friends, love Azteca....usually!! We arrived around 7:45pm Sunday night, for dinner, drinks & music. We were seated outside, where band was playing. We ordered guacamole, which is made fresh, usually tableside, if your inside. We've ALWAYS received great service, along with delicious, fresh tasting food!! This time...HORRIBLE SERVICE!! We ordered drinks and appetizer first. We got the appetizer, but still no drinks, not even water. We are very patient customers, so we waited. It took 40mins to bring our drinks, which weren't what we ordered. Another 10mins, we got our drinks. We finally had what we ordered, by 9pm. At 9:14pm, I ordered another margarita, before closing. Server didn't acknowledge my request so I asked again, as I'm really quite spoken & wasn't sure he heard me. From his response, no doubt he heard me & he let me know. I was not only refused a drink, the server was extremely rude. I was told quite rudely, they were closed!! We are very nice people & always tip at least 20%, because pleasing customers can be difficult. I was very dissapointed with the treatment from the server. One bad experience won't stop us from enjoying the great food, service and music at Azteca but we certainly will request a different server if we are unfortunate enough to get stuck with the server we had tonight. Wish I knew his name but he didn't...
Read moreEvery Thursday we come to listen to outdoor music. This week they decided to move the music indoors which was fine. The bartender came over to let us know that we had to move because I was sitting in the isle for safety reasons. I was perfectly fine with this. Then he came over to serve us and there was a lady standing there we didn't know and she made some comment to him about being on the phone and making us wait. First of all me and my friends didn't care that we had to wait. Obviously this lady was upset she had to wait so the bartender proceeded to tell her and us that he refuses to serve us because of this lady. He explained to us his dad was having surgery tomorrow and that was why he was on the phone. So we do hope your dad does good. However when we told you we didn't know that lady you never once volunteered to serve us. I have never been so embarrassed to be treated like this. People in the bar area looked at us and started making comments. I will never be treated like this again. Don't worry Sidelines in Fishersville was very happy to serve us and they had music also. So I guess goodbye to you all and hello to sidelines for our...
