My husband and I have eaten here since they opened. Maybe 15 years or more. We went yesterday for lunch. 12 pm. 2 people eating inside. We asked if we could sit outside because it was a beautiful 70 degree day. We were told the outside was closed. So we ordered our food to go. Cleaned off the table and chairs and ate outside. We have noticed the last few times we have been there, the crowds are less and less. Now we know why. The sushi was marginal at best and really no better than what you get in the case at Harris Teeter. We both agreed that this was the worst sushi we had ever had here. It makes me sad to think how much we liked going here all these years and it is now like this. We also agreed that we will never go back. Yama is just up the street and is much better. I might have to wait for a table at Yama, but at least the food is worth it. I fully expect this place will go out of business soon. They might say the pandemic had something to do with no one coming there anymore, but it is the quality...
Read moreFORGET THIS PLACE: This Promenade Sushi 101 location consistently has very bad service. Not only are the servers disengaged, the kitchen staff are slow. They have disregarded my requests on my orders both times. I ask the server for one thing and get something else and then the servers have to fight with rhe chefs to get the order right, it's ridiculous. The last two times we have been here we have waited at least 30 minutes for food (Noodle bowls) and each time the restaurant was (at best) 25% full. The Japanese man who manages this restaurant clearly does not care what goes on here. Each time i have said something to him about the issues and he literally just shrugs and walks off. I used to be a weekly regular at the Woodlawn Road Sushi 101and I guess I got used to Hank the owner or his wife being on site at that location. It's obvious they think this Promenade location will run on its own, but that's definitely not the case. I will...
Read moreI am rating this place for what it is--an excellent neighborhood restaurant. I go here for safe quick meals with friends or when I don't wish to cook. I usually order sashimi salmon and tuna. I will also order chicken stir fried rice. These dishes hit the spot for me, but they are not spectacular five star restaurant meals. The sashimi does not melt in your mouth, but it never tastes frozen like other inexpensive places in this city. I have food allergies so I can't try everything on the menu. My family usually likes a sushi roll for their meals. We love the local art pieces on the walls that are for sale. They are fun to see and we always wonder who the artists we're this is a fast casual restaurant that is great for families with kids or a...
