I've been going to Q Shack Charlotte literally since they opened over 10 years ago. The owner and staff have always been great, and now there's new owners and it's gotten even better! Their selection of food is superb and the prices more than reasonable for what you receive. I'm really digging the improvements they've made to recipes, menu items, etc. when it was already fantastic to begin with! This is my favorite BBQ place in CLT to visit and a metric by which I measure others on select experiences. Not just cuz the food's good - also because the friendly service, extremely quick serve time, and the music (I like all types of music and they play just that.) If there's a minor drawback, it's that the interior is a smooth & glass walled facility with a concrete floor and no sound absorption anywhere, so it can get pretty loud in there. That said, the ambience is fun and welcoming and they've also got outdoor seating when the weather allows. While you might be able to find more authentic BBQ in varying styles from other mom-&-pop places around the Carolinas, you'll be hard pressed to find a place that is as consistent in experience, quality, and with such a variety as Q Shack in Charlotte. Their meats are all smoked on-site daily and are of the highest quality. They have all the bases covered for meats: Beef Brisket (some of the best in the region), Pork (tender and moist), Turkey (Very Lean and very moist!), Chicken (boiled texture with smoked flavor), Beef Sausage (one of my fav's). They also make an out of this world Meatloaf as an occasional special. It's a heapin' helpin' of goodness!! If you're hungry check to see if they're serving it and get some! It is to die for! Their side dishes are all homemade on-site, with the possible exception of the slaw which is still very good and never overly creamy - just the way I like it. The sides are always fresh and delicious. They have both hot and cold sides, as well as everything comes with fantastic hushpuppies. If you order the onion rings, like pretty much everywhere that serves them - you should eat them on-site. OR's to go is just a greasy proposition, no matter how you approach it or who's making them. They used to serve wraps that were flat out THE best. They didn't market them and never put them on the menu, so folks didn't know they could order them. Since they didn't sell in a needed volume, after a couple-to-three years, the wraps went away. Sure a shame - I REALLY miss them. Seriously, the best wraps I've had pretty much anywhere. Hopefully the new owners will bring them back if enough people suggest it (hint hint). They fresh make on-site and serve all three major BBQ sauces: - Tomato based (sometimes referred to as Western/Texas style) - They recently tested a new "sweet raspberry" based sauce that is quite nice. Less 'kick' and not too sweet. I hope it sticks around. - Vinegar (sometimes referred to as Carolina/Eastern/Lexington style) - Mustard based (sometimes referred to as South Carolina/Bessenger style) The latter is not an attempt to recreate Maurice Bessinger's recipe but instead their own interpretation of a mustard sauce that is quite good. Absolutely NOT to be missed: Deviled Eggs Chicken Wings - only available for the Superbowl, and as special runs but worth the wait! Smoked Whole Turkey for Thanksgiving or Christmas Everyone I've ever taken or referred to Q Shack (literally hundreds of folks at this point) has always raved about it. As a BBQ Hound, who's hounded just about every kind of BBQ from everywhere 'real' BBQ is made, I highly recommend Q Shack Charlotte!! Not to be confused with Q Shack in Durham or Raleigh... Same brand, different menu, foods, and really - a different restaurant experience. And the Charlotte location is by far the best of the 3! The CLT owner simply purchased the branding rights and base menu instead of franchising. This allows them freedom, which works to the customers' benefit!

I recently used the Q Shack to cater my wedding reception. I live in TN and my reception was being held in Charlotte, which left me having to handle the entire catering planning process virtually. I am SO GLAD I chose The Q Shack, as they did not disappoint!!!! They went above and beyond all my expectations and provided excellent service and outstanding food at my reception! From the beginning, the owner and his team were incredibly responsive to my questions and were even generous enough to allow my parents to come enjoy multiple taste test on my behalf. All their recommendations were spot on. On the day of the reception, they arrived early and well-prepared. They clearly take pride in their catering and it shows. The owner himself stayed for a majority of our reception to ensure it went off without a hitch. The employee helping serve the food was super friendly. And of course, the food was out of this world! Everything was hot and fresh (which is no easy feat when providing catering, I promise you that). The brisket was phenomenal (and that is high praise coming from a Memphian). The Mac 'n cheese was a guest favorite. The owner shared with me that these dishes were all his wife's recipes. All in all, I couldn't recommend the Q Shack enough - whether you need catering, or a place to pick up lunch. You'll love the food and the thoughtful service with it. THANK YOU for making my reception a memorable evening!

UPDATE

I called and spoke with Mr. Shane and he understood where I was coming from. He offered for us to try the food again but my husband just wanted our refund. Which Mr.Shane did and he was a very kind and polite man to speak with! Mr. Shane is a Great Owner. But! He SERIOUSLY needs better cooks/kitchen staff that will not slack and not care about the food when he is not present. That's unfair to him! Shame on them to even give out food like that! That gives The Q Shack and Mr. Shane a bad name! I hope everyone that goes does not have the experience that we unfortunately had. Just baffling that it was a Friday night and the food came out dry and bland. Thank you Mr. Shane for reaching out to my husband and I! Blessings to you and your business! OH! MY! GOODNESS!!! DO NOT EAT HERE!!! The food is so bland and tasteless!!! I called myself ordering the sweet potato and mac and cheese for my side's!!! HA! That was the biggest mistake EVER!!! NO CHEESE ON THE MAC AND CHEESE!?! WHY??? Who wants plan macaroni noodles!?!? My husband fries tasted of OLD RANCID OIL!!! We both still have an horrible taste in our mouths 24+ hours later! The ribs are dry! Come on guys!!! You all are supposed to be BBQ! I'm not sure why you all have such an high star rating? Only thing that was good was the hushpuppies!!! I'm outraged that we paid +$30 for...
