I feel compelled to update my review from over a year ago, as my experiences here have gotten progressively worse, culminating in a truly bad one today. My wife and I ordered a grilled cheese w/tomato, a bagel egg and cheese w/tomato, and several fresh bagels to freeze. The sandwiches were incorrectly prepared, sloppily and a carelessly made, and a complete disappointment. Her grilled cheese was a sloppy mess. The cheese was not fully melted nor was it cut in halves (a seemingly minor detail, but not when you're trying to eat it). It was half cooked with unappetizing chunks of cheese and soggy bread; not the yummy treat she was hoping for. My bagel sandwich was even worse. Other than the egg (which was over-cooked and dried out), nothing else was even correctly prepared. The type of bagel was wrong. The toast level was wrong (requested the darkest toast setting, and this was seemingly not toasted at all and only slightly grilled on the griddle). And the extra tomatoes ordered were not served. Another major disappointment for what I was hoping would be a yummy Sunday treat. And to boot, everything (including a cold juice bottle, side salad, and the loose bagels - which have also lost some flavor and texture quality over the years) was heedlessly thrown into a single bag for delivery. These were not difficult or complicated orders, so the fact that they were prepared so poorly and without care (continuing a trend we'd already noticed) is something I hope that commenting on will help this once great establishment take more ownership of their quality control.
What a treat! Just moved to Weehawken, and the variety and quality of ingredients (starting with the bagels, of course) is fully top notch. As good or better than anything I've had in the city or Hoboken. And the ease of customizing selections is such a pleasure. Countdown to my...
Read moreBagels on park is the only dedicated bagel shop in the area so fortunately it's really good. The bagels are really great and fresh (love when a bagel doesn't need to be toasted to be good) and the shop is very clean and cute. I really like the chicken salad sandwich, and the breakfast meats are quality and cooked well.
However almost every time I order two different breakfast sandwiches at the same time for my partner and I, they get mixed up. I.e. the bagels are swapped, or getting 2 meat egg & cheese when one is just meat & cheese. This is specific to breakfast sandwiches, if they are 2 totally different kinds this doesn't happen.
I live a few blocks away so I order to-go and bring it home, and it feels unnecessary and awkward that I'd have to stand there and unwrap my whole order to double check, and I'm not going to walk all the way back. Additionally, I feel bad wasting the egg I won't eat when given it, especially when they just raised prices to cover the increased price of food.
Overall, the already good quality has improved over the year I've been going to Bagels, but I'm not always in the mood to get whatever they decide to give me so I don't go there as much anymore.
Update: Gave yet another chance, order was correct (1 cc bagel, 1 bec bagel) but there was a big nasty coarse black hair in my cream cheese inside my bagel and I still can't shake the feeling of it in my mouth, so this is where I have to draw the line. Goodbye Bagels.
Response to the owner - Tina, you yourself have entered my order incorrectly even after repeating it back to me correctly so it is unfair to blame...
Read moreFull disclosure: the owner did NOT pay me to say this, I just love this place, especially their macaroni salad
Hold the front door. PLEASE DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED BY THIS REVIEW in the photo. The macaroni salad from Bagels on Park is legendary. It’s better than my mother-in-law’s (hope she never sees this) and hers is REALLY good.
Every time I order a bagel or sandwich from BoP, I always ask for a side of macaroni salad because it is just that good.
Tina (the owner) is super accommodating of any and all requests. I have personally witnessed her handle customer service issues in the most professional manner. If there is an issue with your order, Tina will personally make sure it is remedied.
This business was even opened during a tropical storm this past weekend when every other business was closed. As such, they were in high demand. I ordered two Reuben sandwiches, and even though Tina told me it would be a long wait, we were in and out within 10 minutes. This was much shorter than we had anticipated!
Overall, don’t pay attention to the negative reviews. This place is the real deal and deserves 5 out of 5. We were waiting for a place like BoP to open up in the neighborhood and it’s really refreshing to have a family-owned business in this area. Skip Dunkin, try your hand at...
