The space looked very nice. It was well decorated without going over the top. The configuration of the space was a bit strange. If you were not sitting at one of the 3 booths in the dining room area, then you were left to sit at one of the standard tables that were squished together around the perimeter of the dining room, forcing you to be back to back with other patron.
The hostess was on the phone when we walked in, which caused us to wait for a bit. Simultaneously, there were about 4 or 5 employees standing behind her at the bar area, but proceeded to just watch us. It was very strange. Finally, one of them came over to seat the customer before us as the hostess was hanging up the phone.
We started with 2 Negroni. We waited for what seemed like forever for these two drinks, and my partner saw one had been completed but was just sitting at the bar waiting for its companion to be done. When I sipped mine, it was so incredibly strong and did not taste like a Negroni. The liquor they used was cheap (which you could taste) and there was barely any Campari. It was also, strangely, warm. The ice cube in it was pretty much completely melted when the drinks finally arrived, and yet it was still not fully chilled. It was easily the worst Negroni I’ve ever had. To make things even weirder, my partners Negroni didn’t taste anything like mine, but was also not very good. I don ‘t even know how that can happen.
For appetizers we ordered the seafood crown and the fried guacamole. It comes with 2 disks of fried guacamole, atop dots of hoisin sauce and spicy mayo. The guacamole was relatively flavorless, other than the taste of it being fried. It had not been salted after coming out of the oil, nor did the insides taste seasoned enough. Additionally, the cook on each disk was different - one was much darker and one was lighter. There were also cold spots throughout the disk that I ate. Not good.
The seafood crown was delicious but confusing. It was a mixture of cooked seafoods, served chilled. Within it was a layer of what seemed like a fresh salsa of sorts, which was clean and paired well with the light flavors of the seafood. I’m still at a loss as to why they also put the hoisin sauce and spicy mayo on it as well. It was too many flavors fighting one another. We scraped that off and just enjoyed the seafood. The puff pastry ring that was on top is foul. It tastes like it was baked in advance and has taken the flavor of wherever it was stored - the fridge, a dish towel, I don’t know. It was disgusting.
For our mains, I had the NY strip and my partner had the 2 lobster tails. The lobster was small and overcooked, so it was tough. My steak was ordered rare and came out mid-well. It was incredibly tough. While I was eating it, the server came over and asked how the steak was and said “it’s overcooked isn’t it?” without prompting. I said yes but it’s fine, and she said she’d take care of it. I told her no, that I don’t want another nor do I want to waste food (at this point, we were both full and weighed down by the heaviness of everything). She apologized and walked away. About 5 minutes later, the chef appeared beside me, which startled me. He asked if there was an issue with my steak and I said it was overcooked but it was fine. He offered to remake it and I said no, because I don’t want to waste food. He said “it’s ok - do you want filet?” and I had to decline a third time, stating I didn’t want to waste food. He said ok and left.
When we got the bill, nothing was modified. They didn’t take anything off for the steak fiasco, I never finished my Negroni and they never even asked if it was ok. Our server was very kind, but not close to fine dining trained. Everything (I mean EVERYTHING) is adorned with micro greens and hibiscus flowers. It’s like this restaurant is trying to be “fine dining”, but is covering the inconsistencies with pretentious looking plating and servers with neck-ties. The whole place is weird, and it was definitely something my partner and I laughed at later, because it was a...
Read moreMy wife and I finally had the opportunity to check out this local spot. It definitely gave off the “fine dining” vibes so when I found out about the Valentine’s Day special I figured it was time to check it out! It was very busy upon arrival as expected on Valentines Day and took a few minutes to be seated which is to be expected. We were shown to our table and ordered the V-Day special along with some wine and took in the restaurant. It is beautifully decorated and a nice atmosphere for an evening out. Our waitress was very professional and didn’t miss a beat. We were extremely satisfied with the service. Our food came and here’s the honest review. Bread was great. Dipping oil was seasoned well and was delicious. The lobster bisque was the highlight of our night and was to die for! The lobster tail was perfectly cooked and with the melted butter it was delicious. The baked potato was good but not really anything to talk about. It was a little underwhelming. Our side of Alfredo Pasta was also really good. The steak. Seasoned perfectly. Cooked perfectly. It was tough. It was a New York strip and I understand that for the price point it was “worth it”. I would have happily paid extra for a fillet. Just kinda needed a fillet. It’s a special night out. I’m fine with a strip if it’s tender. It just wasn’t. Dessert was delicious and we had an overall great evening. Spent some time at the bar afterwards and enjoyed an Old Fashioned with some Rye whisky and capped off a great evening. We will definitely...
Read moreWe visited here to celebrate my dads birthday and based on the prices and name expected an upscale dining experience with wonderful food. We had a party of 4 and only 1 of our dishes was correct. we got the Arancini balls as an appetizer and none of us liked it and we sent it back and had to ask to have it removed from our check. The bread and oil was delicious but they were treating it like it was gold and initially only brought us 2 rolls sliced into 4 pieces each, when we asked for more bread it took about 30 mins to receive because they said it was baked fresh, when we finally got it it was only ONE roll cut into 4 pieces! As far as the entrees, the scallops were good but that was the only positive part of the main course. The farafelle pasta was supposed to have cream sauce with onions and peppers, but they added the vegetable medley (zucchini, squash) that was meant for the Cajun pasta according to the menu. It was edible but that’s the best rating I would give it. The chicken that came with it was nice and crispy but not very flavorful. Now for the worst part, the ‘vodka pasta.’ The supposed vodka sauce was chunky marinara like what you’d get to dip provolone sticks in. Not creamy at all and the chef came out and was telling us we were wrong about how the sauce should have been, we also had to ask to have this removed from the check despite the person who ordered it not even taking a bite. The waitress was great and handled...
