No ⁵lie here, but I had ordered the build your own combo meal. The tamale and burrito both sounded like great choices, but with those choices came also beans and rice. Now for whatever reason, I thought these guys were messing with me when they started bringing out my food. The guy brought two huge plates. One had a pair of medium-sized chicken burritos, and the other was the beef tamale I had ordered. As I stare down these two plates, which would hardly fit on my side of the table, I wonder outloud where my beans are rice are. The server responds in kind that he will return with them momentarily. Sincere to his words, the server did return with a third, table occupying plate. This was the point at which I had to make mention that it really should have been presented on less than three hectares of stoneware. So I asked the server why did each of these options come on their own plate. I was unable to receive a suitable answer, and I then recommended that it be put on maybe one plate alone, although I didn't want all of that being performed directly in front of me. I asked him to take it back to the kitchen and return with a more suitable presentation. He returns with a single plate with both burritos and tamale placed in the middle of the plate (looking about as plain to me as the cornfields one may drive through going across the midwest). I still had the extra plate (read hectare of stoneware) of beans and rice. Well, not wanting to risk my food being spit in, I avoided the opportunity to request that all my food be put on just one single plate. Both stars were removed simply due to this bad experience. I do plan on returning on a day where there may be a more experienced server available. Although both entrees on my plate were "practical joke" salty, I was assured this was not how it is normally, and this is also why I did not remove any stars because of it. Since I took a total of one bite from each selection, I felt that I probably should not have to be stuck paying for inedible food, so I asked for the manager, who showed up surprisingly quick. I had explained my situation, and he offered to remove the meal from my ticket. This was a real classy move, and the real reason I will go back to this place. So really, I was only charged a few bucks for the cheese dip, and my friend's meal (which, by the way, appeared as if it had been prepared by Gordon Ramsay himself). The cheese sauce was excellent, and my friend claimed that her dish was...
Read moreGood evening and thank you for taking the time to read my review!
Tonight we celebrated our anniversary and we ordered: a lime margarita, chips & salsa/cheese dip, Fiesta Tacos with a side of rice, quesadilla mex, fried ice cream and fried churros. Our waiter, Mateo, was amazing and kind.
The Fiesta tacos are awesome as they serve 1 of each protein they offer. You get 8 tacos total. They aren't the traditional street taco size but regular sized corn tortillas. My husband said they are a perfect taco craving smasher! The rice was okay. It was cold.
The quesadilla mex are good. I had one shredded chicken and one shredded beef. I prefer the beef but both are really good! The beans with it are amazing! I added some cheese dip to the beans and made a dip for my quesadilla! Amazing.
The margarita was eh. I don't drink so I thought it was extremely salty haha but im not accustomed to how they are supposed to taste.
My biggest disappointment was our dessert. I'm big on desserts. When you think of a churro, you expect a light, crispy golden churro. These were heavy and so dense and not crispy at all. The ice cream was alright.
Over all the presentation and size of everything was great. Slightly steep on prices on some thing but not a deal breaker. We will be returning to try different menu items 😊
If you are still here with me, thank you and I hope you give the Crazy Mexican a try...
Read moreNormally, I’d rave about Crazy Mexican—it’s my go-to spot for bold flavors and unforgettable meals. But after our recent Sunday visit, I’ve learned the hard way that timing matters. Weekends? Fantastic. Sunday? Not so much.
It all started with the empanadas. We ordered them expecting the usual savory crisp, but the center of each was noticeably cold. Not frozen, but clearly undercooked. Then came the tableside chunky guacamole—normally a treat. This time, it was disappointingly small and drowned down dressing(not in the right way). The chips tasted stale and lacked the fresh crunch we’ve come to expect.
Service was sluggish, and it took far too long to flag down a wait staff. Once we finally placed our usual order—two “Insane Fajitas”—things didn’t improve. I counted just 2 shrimp husband had 3, and the steak was suspiciously pork-like. My husband and I debated it, but I’m 💯 convinced it was pork. The sizzling platter wasn’t even hot; I literally picked it up with my bare hand,(I had to prove my point to my husband) and on a Friday that plate is sizzling.
Overall, Sunday felt like a different restaurant altogether—off in both quality and energy. If you’re heading there, I’d strongly recommend going on a Friday or Saturday when the kitchen’s on point and the vibes match the name. Sunday, sadly, was far from “insane” in the good way.
