Ordered takeout, so keep that in mind! Strictly reviewing the food items I myself ate/tried. I'll also add that I've been coming to Wells for 29 summers, and I've eaten here many times.
-Lobster Roll: the lobster itself was quality and fresh. Not enough mayo (I added more myself) or any other type of flavor for me, hot dog bun was toasted but otherwise very plain (not particularly buttery or anything else). I know many like their lobster rolls this way, but it wasn't the best I've had, esp for the cost.
-Fried Shrimp: I ate a couple off my son's plate. The side order size is excellent for the price. Small-ish shrimp, but very tasty.
-Clam Chowder: My 2nd favorite item I had. Tasty, decent amount of clams. Could have been a little thicker and just a tiny bit more flavorful. But delicious nonetheless.
-Coleslaw: Very fresh, cabbage crunchy. Excellent mayo to vinegar to sweetness ratio. However, there's either tartar or horseradish added, which can definitely be tasted. I didn't mind it, but something to consider if you don't like either of those.
-Onion Rings: The best thing eaten, hands down. Clearly hand-made, onions crisp but not too hard, batter delicious and not falling off. So, so good! I would come here just for them😍
-Sweet potato fries: While the taste itself was good, they were soggy. This may have had something to do with the container used/the way they're packaged to go/the fact it was a to-go order. I'm about 5 minutes away, so not a super long distance. The onion rings weren't soggy at all, so hopefully FC can find a way to help reduce sogginess for takeout.
One thing I was disappointed in, was that they use shelf-stable Kraft cocktail sauce, at least for takeout orders (compared to the tartar sauce which was in the little plastic ramekins). As a very popular seafood restaurant in a beach vacation town, I would expect house-made sauces. But that's just being nit-picky.
Overall, I will definitely be back! But I'd probably order something other than the sweet potato fries and lobster...

So we thought that that we order food here and then go find a table (as a lot of the shacks like this in Maine do this). We pay for the food and I ask the lady where do we sit, she tells us tables in the back. While we are waiting for food with a buzzer, the waiter comes over and says we can’t sit there (dine in only people) He points me to other tables on side (no where to sit family of 4). I told him it’s our first time here, can we change our order to indoor dining since we didn’t know what the process here. He tells us ok he will switch our order. They finally sit us down, waiter comes in and tells us we should be sitting outside and we are taking up a waiter. After I told her that he took our buzzer and said he will change our order to dine in, she leaves. We finally get our meal, no one even stopped by once to check up on to see if we need anything (is this how you treat your dine in people as well?). I left a tip regardless, provably should not have done that. Now we are driving and my husband said he heard staff talking crap about us…how rude? Talking in front of your customers who ordered a meal and paid for it and left you a tip. I should of just cancelled the order and went somewhere else. We will never be back here. Horrible service over nothing and to create all this drama in front...
Read moreSo, my Girlfriend told me last night that we were going out to eat and then going to do something fun after. We live in S. New Hampshire and i assumed that we would dine out at a local restaurant.
Imagine my surprise when an hour and 15 minutes later we arrived at Fisherman's Catch in Wells Beach Me. We had camped at a local campground here a couple weeks earlier and had fallen in love with the area.
The restaurant was right on the edge of the marshes that flow into the ocean. There was plenty of parking as well which was nice. The atmosphere was very nice with an ocean theme. We were told that there would be a 25 minute wait which seemed fine. We decided to eat outside as the weather was nice.
The menu was modified due to Covid but it was perfect we thought. We ordered some drinks and Onion Rings to start our meal. The Onion rings were fabulous. We both ordered a fisherman's combo with fried clams & Scallops. The meal came with fries, Cole slaw, and a roll. The food was absolutely perfect. It was not greasy or over or under cooked. It was quite honestly the best seafood meal that either of us had eaten in some time. The service was top notch and when we were done we were very satisfied.
The thing that we did after eating was to visit the nubble lighthouse on York Beach. That in itself was a great way to end a great date night. We would both highly recommend the Fisherman's Catch to anyone who loves...
