Interior is underwhelming, maybe because I had high expectations š We were the only ones in line to order, and it took 10 mins for the worker to get to the register understandable because she was the only one behind the bar, so we waited patiently. She proceeded to ask the lady who walked up behind me what she could get for her. I had to remind the lady that I was there first, not a big deal at all. Then I remembered my sister has the SAME encounter when she came here except she took a whole line order before saying anything, it must be a common experience. I spent $44 plus a tip for three drinks three food items. Sadly, we were highly disappointed. My sister spent $11 for two items. The soda drinks were good, vanilla latte was definitely drip coffee with milk, tteokboki was fine wish the egg was a softer boil, kdogs were small, sotteok for 5 dollars is bonkers to me. They serve drinks first, then food, so you have to go up and grab your drinks and food sometimes one by one, so there's lots of walking back and forth if you're ordering more than two items. We did go on a 3° day, but it's freezing inside. I think I just expected more, and the prices just made me feel cheated. It's not terrible, but I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is the first authentic āKoreanā style cafĆ© in Greater Milwaukee area (and probably all of Wisconsin). Itās not every day that one can experience Korean desserts like āBingsuā or āDalgonaā lattĆ© in the Midwest, besides metropolises like Chicago. āK Street Cafeā is a real gem that is difficult to find elsewhere in modest Midwestern cities.
Now being the only Korean cafĆ© in town doesnāt mean that it is a āmake-believeā Korean joint like a lot of other ethnic establishments around town that compromise on authenticity to cater to larger demographics. This cafĆ© is serious on keeping things authentic and making the āKoreanā experience as real as it can be.
The Korean owner and the staff are friendly, and the food is great. I really love the āK-Street Tofu Saladā which is a hearty mix of health-conscious veggies and the oh-so-amazing K-Street dressing. Itās nice to have such options available for sugar-conscious person like me.
For those who donāt mind a bit of sugar, the Croffle here is a mega-hit - my children absolutely love it.
I hope this joint remains open for years to come, adding more ethnic diversity and authenticity to this humble...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time here. I remember this place when it was Urban Joes (that was a while ago). It's a small spot on a busy street, with plenty of street parking. It has large windows in the front, providing lots of light for the tables up front. There are small tables going all the way to the rear.
There were a few other people there, so it was quiet. The cashier was pleasant and did a good job explaining the menus.
We ordered a couple of breakfast items: the Avocado Egg Sandwich and an order of Mandoo (Korean Fried Dumplings). Drinks included a Brown Sugar Iced Tea and a Strawberry Lemonade.
After a little bit, the drinks and food came out. Everything was the right temperature. The Mandoo was very good ā hot, flavorful, with nice textures (thanks to the Jabchae). The Brown Sugar Iced Tea was also sweet and refreshing. The egg sandwich was very good too, but a bit messy (with the ketchup and mayo), so a fork might be needed.
Overall, a very good first experience. Next time weāll have to try the Bingsu (Korean Shaved Ice) that everyone...
