My boyfriend, his mom, and I walked in here for the first time on a whim while window shopping in downtown West Allis on an early Friday afternoon. It wasn't super busy, but there were a few people drinking at the bar and others playing some of the slot games when we came in. With that and the wait staff who were all very friendly to us, the vibe felt chill enough to hang out for a few hours despite us being there mostly just for food.
We all love a good Friday fish fry, so we decided to get three seafood bonanzas with varying sides. All of us agreed that the fish and shrimp was fried to absolutely perfection, but the calamari was sadly too tough and chewy to finish (probably fried for too long with the other stuff).
BF and I agreed the clam chowder soup was one of the best we'd ever had.
BF's mom said the potato pancakes weren't made the way she was expecting, but they were good nonetheless.
I prefer my brussel sprouts to be cut in half and baked with a bit of oil, so that's more of what I was hoping for with my side. They still tasted good, but they were fried so much that it didn't feel like I was really eating a vegetable anymore. They had fallen apart so much too that it almost felt like I was just eating a fried crunchy topping for a rice bowl or something. I ate all of them but felt a bit bad after.
We also got an appetizer of cheese curds to begin with, and those tasted amazing.
Overall, I'd definitely come back here, but I'd probably switch my choices. Some of their menu items were big hits with others leaving us feeling a bit meh. If I had been slamming drinks all night, I'd probably care less about the menu misses, but this place didn't really have the vibe of a bar to...
Read moreGreat daily specials and great wings! We got Wednesday wing specials, and I forgot to read my own previous review from their other location and ended up making the same mistake lol. I need to remember that this is why I write reviews… to remind myself of what I enjoyed and what I didn’t!
But in line with my review from the other location, wings are great, but I need to remember not to get the dry rub or the naked version. Just get them tossed to begin with. The reason I got the dry rub/naked was to get more sauce options, but the dry wings are dry.
Dry rub It’s ok, but not really.
Alabama White It’s not that hot. It’s got 3 flames vs. the diablo mustard (2), but I feel that it’s less spicy. And it’s not really a white sauce (I was thinking more cream like taste), but yellow and not so much cream-like flavor. Good, but I’m not sure that I’d like it
Diablo Mustard So far, best among the others above.
All the sauces are made in house (per our server). I have a mind to try the Nashville hot next time. And maybe korean bbq.
Fries are great, crispy.
Cheese Curds Awesome! Actually like the Catalina dressing with the curds better than the Alabama White sauce lol
Subbed the fries for crispy Brussels in the Wednesday Special and wasn’t charged extra for it. but the sauce on the side did cost 75 cents each. I got the naked wings with 2 sides, and they charged for both sauces (shouldn’t one of them have been free?)
Vibes inside was dark (and they turned down the lights around 6pm and it got even darker), but clean and upbeat.
Overall, I’m still loving the experience and writing this review cuz I’m coming back!!
BTW, our server Taylor was pretty awesome and on the money....
Read moreI will never be back. The food is good but the service is terrible. I came in last night to get take out and decided to have a drink at the bar before leaving, the bar tender was giving mad attitude from the beginning. I asked if the sauce was in there and she (Terra) said yes. I got home and there was no sauce so I called upset that I spent $50 (and tip $10 on one drink ) and there was none except ketchup and mustard which I ordered ahi sandwich, cheese curds, and brussel sprouts. Well anyways I called to speak to the manager to let him know I was upset with the attitude that I got the money that I spent and double-checking if there was sauce for the cheese curds and he basically called me a liar and told me he personally put it in there and so when I came into the restaurant manager Steve and Tara the bartender were leaned over the counter waiting for me and right off when I got in there they basically attacked me. Made me feel like I was a criminal called me a liar and so I got really upset and stormed out. Didn't eat the food and now I want a refund. I will never ever go back after being treated like that. Especially coming from a manager. All he had to do was apologize and make it right by giving me a sauce. I hope I hear from the owner. I called this morning to talk to someone and I want a refund so...
