I worked in the service industry for 16 years, I’ve seen terrible restaurants unfortunately and I’ve also seen wonderful restaurants that value their customers, commit to consistently high standards and care intimately about the products they serve and the people they serve them too. In a post-Covid world where it is getting harder and harder to find these places, Dewey’s ALWAYS comes through. They have the friendliness staff, the best management, the highest quality food product they are serving consistently and proudly to both dine in and carry-out customers alike. There really isn’t another restaurant in this area that I know of that can compare.
I ordered pizza a few weeks ago and when I went to pick it up the manager intervened and told me my pie wasn’t to his standards, he already had a re-fire working and he gave me a $10 gift card for the inconvenience. I left that night with two pies and that gift card, blown away by the manager who noticed the pizza wasn’t up to par before handing it off to me, you have no idea what a big deal this is to me. I order carry-out all the time and I’m constantly settling for “ugly food”, but the fact that it was noticed, brought to my attention and they were transparent about the mistake and eager to get it fixed for me! I mean, accidents happen! It’s all about how you recover!
Anyway, a couple weeks later and I needed my Dewey’s fix so I decided to use the gift card I got on my previous visit, well, they were training in the kitchen and some ingredients were messed up on my pizza, they again, apologized profusely, gave me the mess up pie, the refire and, yup, another gift card. I just can’t say enough good things about this place. Again, I deal with mistakes at restaurants all the time but no one ever notices without me bringing it to their attention. (I rarely do unless it’s just something I can not eat cause I’m just not that person so having it noticed and fixed without me having to say anything is huge)
I didn’t even mention how great the pizza is, and the salad and their beer rotation. Their staff is so friendly, they look happy to work there, again in contrast so many people look miserable these days, cause they are!
Dewey’s in West Chester, you have a certain kind of magic I thought was lost. Thank you for everything, I am forever a...
Read moreMy family & I enjoy Dewey’s pizza fairly regularly. We have frequented locations in Columbus and Cincinnati.
Our main complaints are typically about the lighting and noise levels. However, I have a new complaint to add to the list: questionable management practices.
I have never managed a restaurant, but I was in management for 10 years. I have heard that certain “managers” have yelled at staff during busy times. This is not okay. The only time it is okay to yell at a staff member is when their safety is in jeopardy. This behavior reeks of someone in management with no management training, or the wrong mentality for the job. Staff need a leader. Management needs to be the example of the staff they want to employ. Plain & simple.
Another point of criticism, hiring and firing doesn’t always need to be based on a performance metric, and if it is based on a metric it should be one that is reasonable. Memorizing a ridiculous number of ingredients in a short period of time does not indicate a worthy staff member. Knowing the ingredients does not mean someone is going to care about the pizza they are making, have a positive attitude about their workplace, or indicate any level of tangible skill other than ability to memorize and recall a list.
My son was fired from Dewey’s in Westchester today. I’m not disappointed in him. He had a positive attitude & told me that out of the few jobs he had had this was his favorite so far. I am disappointed in this Dewey’s location, for not nurturing staff. It seems that so many places have forgotten that if you grow your employees from the beginning, their loyalty grows, and in turn they help grow...

We visited here on vacation from Illinois and were blown away by the entire experience.
First things first…
The gluten free pizza is OUTSTANDING.
If you’ve ever had gluten free pizza, you know it’s hit and miss based on the crust. It’s either too burnt or not cooked enough. However, Dewey’s pizza threads that needle perfectly. I’ve eaten in 20 different states and this is hands down the best gluten free pizza crust I’ve ever had.
Now on to the cheese pizza. I have two kids who are picky eaters. When the cheese pizza arrives, they devoured 3/4 of it in 10 minutes. They loved it.
My wife had the gluten free mozzarella pizza and she said it was delicious.
If you want dairy free cheese, they serve Selfish Cow cheese which rivals Daiya for taste and texture.
Other reasons you should eat here:
The staff:
We were greeted and seated immediately after entering. The staff had good suggestions and were very accommodating. Customer service like this is a rarity nowadays, so when we find it, we cherish it and rave about it.
Cleanliness:
The tables, floors, and bathrooms exemplify the old saying: Cleanliness is next to Godliness. Other restaurants should take note of how Dewey’s Pizza keeps their restaurant clean.
Menus:
Easy to follow and the staff had great suggestions for dairy free and gluten free choices.
Parking:
You’ll find free parking within 100 feet of the front door. The restaurant is very...
