Oh boy, where to even start? The food gets one star because they won't let me rate it any lower. We came solely for the beef bulgogi and were sorely dissapointed. I'm not being hyperbolic when I say the dish was 85% onion and 15% beef/mushrooms. If that wasn't bad enough the beef was dry and not marinated at all and the onions were almost completely raw, it was a rare find if you found one that had been sautéed. The mushrooms were fine though, probably because it's nearly impossible to overcook or undercook a mushroom, seriously it's almost scientifically impossible. Just overall a very bland and dissapointing meal. It shouldn't be an unrealistic expectation for our bulgogi BEEF have more than 2 or 3 slices of beef.
The service also gets one star because they failed to tell us that a side of rice came with the meal when he saw us both order a side of white rice to go with the bulgogi. That should have been an indicator for our server to mention it came included but happily took the extra money we'd be spending in error instead. He also gets one star for handing us plates of almost entirely onion and having the audacity to call it bulgogi beef.
The atmosphere actually gets 3 stars believe it or not. It really did feel like we were in north Korea with the way they were rationing their beef, you'd think there was a nation wide famin. Not to mention the chairs were hard and incredibly uncomfortable, probably to add to the "forced labor camp" north korean ambiance I assume they were going for.
TL:DR I paid $60 for what was basically a plate of mostly raw onions. Needless to say I won't be coming here again, mostly because I don't want to press my luck with trying to escape the DMZ a...
Read moreWay overpriced and extremely stingey!! We drove 1 1/2 hours to specifically eat here. Spent over $100, got curdled/lumpy teokbokki with really mushy rice cakes, extremely dry boneless wings and potstickers, and flavorless edamame. When I asked if I could have a small amount of extra garlic soy sauce for my really dry potstickers, I was told repeatedly "no way, we don't do that," even though I told him over and over again how very dry they were and had almost no sauce on them. He then offered to take my food back, which I had already partially eaten, to "wipe more sauce on them." I told him no way that's unsanitary cause I had already started eating off my plate, and again asked for just a small amount of the sauce on the side just to wet them a little. He was very persistent in telling me no way "we don't do that here." My food was dry and the guy working that night didn't want to do anything to help make it better. What happened to good customer service? If I'm going to pay over $100 on a small amount of food then I should be able to get a small side of the sauce to drizzle over my food, that should have already had it on it to begin with. I will never EVER return to this place. Horrible customer service and very...
Read moreThis was the BEST fried chicken I have ever had! It was super crispy but mouth wateringly moist on the inside. The flacor I chose was the sweet one, so delicious. When I put it in the car, the smell was amazing; It was difficult to drive home and not start eating it right away! Melissa was the kind employee who answered the phone when I called to order, and also the one who rang me up. So friendly and quick, 5 stars for her too! She welcomed my son and me with a warm smile. She was very knowledgeable about all the items they offered, because of course after I ordered the chicken I wanted to order something to go with it! I ended up ordering fried dumplings for my son who saw them and decided he would take those over the chicken (dumplings are his favorite). He loved them so much he didn't want to give me a taste so I could review them! Eventually he did, and they were yummy too! I am so happy I found this new gem! They even deliver with an app called Caviar, but I like to pickup myself! Everyone should try Bonchon, food is amazing. Next tine I will get the japche or bibimbap!! (Not sure I spelled those right, I am used to spelling them in korean letters only) Try this, you won't be dissapointed!! My new...
