Manje Caribbean — Restaurant in West Chester

Celebrated Father's day yesterday and enjoyed the most delicious meal. The owners were welcoming, courteous, and professional. The dining space is beautifully decorated and immaculate. I am Jamaican 🇯🇲and my husband is Haitian 🇭🇹formerly from Brooklyn, so we know authentic Caribbean food. Service was attentive and efficient. I loved the owner and my husband speaking in their native language of Haiti 🇭🇹 Now, the food: oxtails tender, griot tender with pikliz delicious, white rice, djon djon, rice n beans well cooked, jerk chicken nice char, soup joumou and beef Bouyon hot and delicious. D&G Ginger beer is my favorite Jamaican soda. We got the family meal 3 apps, 3 entrees, 3 sides. When I retired recently from Chester County Hospital I thought I would never be making the long commute from New London anymore, except for doctors appointments, but I DEFINITELY will be making the 45 minute commute to Manje. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! Can't wait to return. Trust me when I say BEST CARIBBEAN FOOD in CHESCO, Newark DE, Bear DE, and Wilmington DE. Thank you Manje for making our first dine in experience...

Our group of 5 ate at Manje for the first time last week. We came because of the great reviews—but also because it was a BYO. The decor is pretty basic, but it is very clean and we were warmly welcomed by the server and by the aromas of delicious food. Service was quick, our server was super nice and very helpful. We tried the goat curry, the whole fish with and without sauce, jerk chicken, and jerk pork as mains and fried plantains, rice and red beans, macaroni and cheese, and cabbage for sides, and ended with sweet potato cheesecake, rum cake, and a Haitian cake (I can’t remember the name). Everything was great , but the jerk pork was my favorite….followed by the fried sweet plantain and the sweet potato cheesecake. Very unimpressed. Stopped here today for lunch. Jerk Chicken Sandwich with rice took over 30 minutes to come out. Embarrassing small portion of chicken that was cold. Seasoning for jerk chicken was barely there. Rice was good and hot but I didn’t order the meal for the rice, I wanted tasty chicken and this was a huge miss. Girl at the register was sweet and apologized for the long wait which I appreciate. I only had 1 hour lunch so I had to scarf my food down in the car. Restaurant was empty, there was only one other lady waiting for her order. She called ahead to pick up at 11:45, and she didn’t leave with her food until 12:30. She waited over 45 minutes in person even though she called ahead… This restaurant has a lot of improving to do, would not recommend and I would not be eating here...
