Awesome place, definitely check out Unico!
We dined here at an odd hour on Saturday afternoon, we were the only patrons at the time. We brought our baby daughter, and the staff was very accommodating. The space is dramatic with the black walls and decorations, a nice bar area in front and a warm dining room in back.
The menu had a great list options and we started with octopus, portabello with cheese, and a Manhattan. For our main courses, we ordered the special bone in short rib and seafood fettuccine. For dessert, we shared an apple strudel with caramel ice cream. Overall, the food was delicious, beautifully presented, and had solid portion sizes. The food varied on a spectrum of fusion Latin and Italian, which yielded some interesting flavor combinations. It was fun to see how the chef experimented and generally worked well.
Manhattan was on the sweeter side, which I prefer, while my wife liked less, still solid.
The bread was more cakey, thick, filling with a crispy, medium-thick crust. I ate a lot, using it soak up the delicious sauces of our dishes.
Octopus was a hit, that plate was cleaned up. It had a nice salt char, and the squid was well cooked, playing well with the spicy hummus. I could have eaten this as an entree.
The mushroom with cheese had a wonderful white sauce that was soaked up by the bread. A generous portion of polenta served as a vessel for sauce delivery. I'd eat this as a main course as well.
The bone-in short rib was very impressive and fork tender. The rice and tangy green sauce was a delicious pairing.
Seafood fettuccine was the tastiest dish. A sizable portion of crab meat, large, succulent shrimp, and well cooked noodles featured heavily. The shrimp were not over-cooked, the pasta also had a satisfying chew. Flavor abounded in the sauce, which cleaned up well with the bread.
Our dessert, compared to everything else, was a little tame. It still tasted good, especially the caramel ice cream. However, it lacked the fanfare of the other dishes.
Service was amazing, right amount of attentive and helpful with our baby girl. The even invited us into the back kitchen for her to look.
Definitely check them out, we'll be back to try...
Read moreIf you're looking for a restaurant that combines incredible food with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere, Unico Restaurante is the place to be. The ambiance is perfect for any occasion—whether you're planning a romantic date night, a relaxed family dinner, or a fun group outing. It's intimate, yet lively, creating the perfect setting for enjoying a great meal with loved ones.
We started with the appetizers, and both the fried calamari and patatas bravas were standouts. The calamari was light and crispy, served with a sweet chili sauce that was the perfect compliment. The patatas bravas were packed with flavor—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a smoky, spicy kick.
For our entrees, the skirt steak with yuca fries was absolutely out of this world. The steak was cooked to perfection—tender, juicy, and full of flavor—while the yuca fries added a unique and delicious twist. We also tried the gnocchi in red pepper cream sauce, and it was heavenly. The gnocchi was soft and pillowy, and the creamy sauce was rich and satisfying.
But the real showstopper? The desserts. Each one was not only beautifully presented but tasted even better than we expected. From the first bite, we knew they were the star of the meal. The flavors were exceptional—sweet, balanced, and decadent without being overly indulgent.
Everything on the menu sounded amazing, and we’re already planning our next visit to try even more dishes. Unico Restaurante has certainly earned a spot on our list of favorites, and we can’t wait to return for another memorable dining experience....
Read morecame here for valentines day. maybe it was just a one off experience for us, but it was the worst service and experience. had a 6:45 reservation and we were the first ones seated in the empty, bar side of the restaurant. we were given waters and left alone for about 15 minutes while other parties proceeded to be seated, given waters and drinks, and had their orders taken. when we ordered our appetizer only (despite saying we knew what entrees we wanted)— calamari— it arrived underwhelmingly…. soggy. we then had to go out of the way to ask for two sprites which we never got refills for the near two hours we were there. after watching those who arrived after us receive appetizers AND their entrees, the waiter/what seemed to be the owner told us our food was “coming out soon” despite us not having our entree orders taken. finally, our orders were taken and by the time they came out, we’d been there for over an hour and the later reservations had begun to leave. the spaghetti alla vognole and chicken linguini were nearly the same dish, both lacking seasoning and any flavor at all.
all in all, it was a very disappointing experience and it felt horrible to watch other tables get asked multiple times if everything was okay and if they needed anything else. oh and our waters were only ever topped off...
