DO NOT EAT HERE. Horrible service & terrible value for money. I dropped by for drinks a few weeks ago & was blown away by the vibe, so I made a reservation for dinner last week. First thing I found odd was, even though the restaurant was almost completely empty, the hostess tried to seat us at a tiny table crammed in between two larger ones, one of which was occupied. Despite numerous open tables & booths (on a Friday night… this should’ve been a hint). I asked the hostess if we could be seated at one of the many empty booths, she was kind of huffy about it but obliged. Next our waitress came over and during her presentation of the menu literally stopped in the middle of her speil to insult my date! (Made a rude comment about her eyes or eye makeup or something.) I couldn’t believe it, we were honestly so stunned we didn’t know how to react. We kind of laughed it off assuming it was a really poor attempt at humor. Then the food started arriving which surprisingly was even more of an insult. $95 for a wagyu strip that was served raw & cold?! Steak is one of my favorite foods & I’ve ordered similar cuts medium rare at many other steakhouses, never have I been served such a poorly cooked steak. The Brussels sprouts were soggy with oil. The oysters were tiny. My champagne was served in a coupe glass & the waitress tried to tell me they didn’t have champagne glasses, then when I pointed out a bunch of them sitting in plain view on the bar changed her tune to “oh well we just think it looks better in this type of glass here”. Ok lady. We then paid- almost $450 for 3 apps, 2 entrees, and 4 drinks total. Pretty steep for such terrible food. The final slap in the face was, as we were walking out the waitress literally ran up and stopped us before we walked out the door in front of a bunch of ppl as if we were trying to run without paying. Then harassed me asking if I still had the signed receipt?? I said no and this woman literally asked me to check my pockets. I asked her what her problem was, reminding her that I handed her my card & she charged me. She said she couldn’t find the receipt & needed it, I told her to ask the busboy bc it isn’t my problem. It was honestly the worst I’ve been treated by a waitress at an upscale place in longer than I can remember.
The sad part is this place has so much potential because it is truly gorgeous on the inside. I honestly would probably still drop in for a drink at the bar if im in the area walking between bars. Even so- If you’re curious about checking this place out for dinner, trust me: DO...
Read moreThis place is exquisite inside. However, my experience started off with a bad taste in my mouth from the African American female hostess with braids, I did not catch her name or I would address her by it. When I arrived, I let her kno I was there for my reservation. She found it and said, “for 2?” I explained to her that my +1 was maybe not coming. She told me that I could sit in the Atrium room..when I reserved the Chandelier room. I told her I reserved the Chandelier room. She said since I was by myself I could sit at a tabletop or the bar and receive full service. I explained I wanted the booth I reserved. She said those are reserved for more guests than 1. Where on the website or during the reservation making process does it say that u cannot reserve a booth for dinner if ur by yourself? I ended up sitting at a tabletop in the bar.
My server Jenny, was absolutely amazing! She saw that I was a little bummed but she treated me like a queen regardless of me being by myself. I purposely racked up the bill to make me worth her time and for taking her table. She discounted my appetizer bc she is a good human and brought me the birthday cake to take home for myself since my +1 no showed.
I made sure to tip her as if she served 2 of us instead of 1 and personally thanked her for being amazing!
EXPERIENCE IS EVERYTHING! The food was great, no complaints. The hostess can kick rocks. She needs retraining!
In waiting for the valet to bring up my car, another set of ladies were waiting for their car who also had an issue with the hostess. Who also reserved the chandelier room and was trying to be shuffled to the atrium room. Who also was sat in the table top area in the bar next to me. Sounds like they are pulling a bait and switch on people with their reservations! NOT OKAY! Why ask us during reserve where we want to be seated if the room is full! Those ladies didnt take it as well as I did. They got 2 drinks and left and went to portillos. They refused to spend $300+ dollars after being treated that way. Proud of them for setting boundaries!
BLVD steakhouse, DO BETTER! There are way too many options in Chicago to spend hundreds of dollars on dinner that will gladly take our money wether we are a party of 1 or 10! Patrons can go elsewhere and be welcomed— not treated unworthy of sitting at a pretty booth under a pretty chandelier just bc you’re...
Read moreMy family went to BLVD on 11/11 for a birthday celebration. The ambiance was nice, but pretty dark inside. We used phone lights to see the menu. The chandelier was the main attraction. The manager was very condescending. He clasps his hands and calls you “my friend” while not truly hearing you or trying to problem solve. He resembles a very low budget John Wick. Apparently if you book 2 tables they cancel one booking. The table that was “reserved” wasn’t even ready. The rude hostess told us that they just seat you wherever they can, once you arrive. We waited about 35 minutes. So our group of nine was told that one portion could sit and the other could not. Mgr said that he would not attempt to seat our group together. We eventually were able to sit separately. There was a table between us that emptied and we asked to move closer to our party. We were told no, initially, but after multiple requests we were granted the move. We noticed that none of the other tables had food. Only drinks. So after ordering drinks, it took a long time to get our orders placed and even longer to get the food. The food was bland. The butter for the bread tasted citrusy. Everyone’s steak was rare, even though we all ordered differently. Chicken was bland. The sides were NOT SEASONED or good quality. Mashed potatoes were from a box, creamed spinach was crunchy and chewy, broccolini was limp and flavorless, fries were good and Mac n cheese was good. Even the cocktails were bad. I stuck to a margarita. That was ok. A shot of Dusse did not taste like Dusse, and when the manager was being told that it didn’t taste good, he insisted that it did, but allowed a different drink to replace it. There is a cake cutting fee, if you bring a cake. The good was AMAYA, our server. She was very sweet but also very busy. I never plan to go back there. Our family often dines out at new restaurants, and this one has been taken off of the list. On...
