Yesterday my daughter & I visited Mi Mi’s cuz I had been in love with the Jerk chicken Birria tacos & that jerk sauce since I first visited. We went early & didn’t think I it would be busy & to my surprise it was packed. Now if you’ve been here before you know it’s a small so seating is limited. They have like 15 tables max. I asked how long was the wait & the guy who was the host so I thought was like 30 mins but then when he seen it was just myself & daughter he said oh I have a table & said come on, he escorted us to this 1 table that was right by a door & stated we could sit there. I was against it cuz the table was very small and I didn’t want to be uncomfortable. I told the guy that’s ok no we’ll just wait and he say well sit here until a table becomes available and then we can move you so our waiter came and she was nice she took our order and I was undecided on my entree because I had the pasta before and it was good but didn’t want it cuz my daughter had the catfish last time and said it was good but she obliged on me getting the sides I was gone get cuz she had it and said out of the 2-3 people who was with her ordered it and didn’t like the greens or Mac and cheese, her exact words were the white cheddar Mac had no flavor and the greens were ok but didn’t taste like mines. I still was gone try it to see for myself but then seen other tables complaining about their food and or making comments to other tables near them discussing the food so I was just gone stick with the pasta. We ordered our apps 1st, wings were literally so small not worth $16. We had Asian zing, which I had before and was good, this time not so much no flavor really. Birria tacos did not disappoint but those are always good. So as we’re waiting a table becomes available 2 ladies walked in asking to place a to go order & the same guy who sat us told them they can place the order at the bar. They get to the bar & was told by our waiter they don’t take to go orders in store they had to do it online. So as the waiter who sat us is wiping off the table that we were waiting on to get away from the bar and the exit door he told the 2 ladies to sit down so now I’m upset & irritated because we were waiting for that table. So our waiter comes and asks “baby what’s wrong you ok” I just shook my head & said he gave our table away so she told him and he said something but was very hard to understand with his accent so she came back & I’m like I’m still gone put my entree order in because I’m ready to go. So next thing you know the door opens and it’s an employee so I was about to move to let him come in & he says that’s ok then closes it back then he comes through the main front door and I’m like oh wow. So I’m even more irritated plus keep in mind we never got waters or anything. Like 6 more came in and as people were leaving they were sat down got their waters and cups right away so I’m just observing. So our waitress comes back I remind her I’m going to place my order she states ok no problem I’ll be right back she goes get a handheld to put my order in and moments later another lady comes to the table like anejo pasta to go so I’m like nope that’s not mine it was for here so she takes it to the kitchen and she’s talking to my server and my server comes back like I’m so sorry I thought you said you wanted it to go. So I told her no I was saying I wanted to put the order in because I’m ready to go so we can get out of here because it’s just a bad experience. She apologizes again & said she’s about to go get it and kid you not the door I’m sitting next too opens again and this time it’s the food delivery person delivering their stock. So I had to get up and move my chair I let him in and im like you know what that’s ok I’ll take it to go I’ve had enough. She gets the food and bring me the bill and I’m like can they do something about this bad experience so she took off my tacos and we left. The food is good for certain things but they need a bigger spot and more staff. They also need to communicate better & all get on...
Read moreOnly half the tables had anyone sitting at them upon arrival around 12:05PM on a Friday & overall the place was moderately patronized. Three tacos & fries were quoted twelve minutes. Over the next thirty minutes, there was zero organization to delivering orders that were left sitting in the window in favor of taking in new orders. (Maybe prioritize getting hot food out before taking in new orders? Or hire another person?) At the twenty-five minute mark, one of my tacos appeared in the window & sat there for about five minutes. The cashier had to ask the kitchen where the other two tacos & fries were after I approached inquiring about my order since three larger orders after mine were just sent out after those also sat in the window for a similar amount of time as my taco. The kitchen incredulously had no idea about the rest of my order. Incompetence all around. Another quote of two minutes turned into six after which the cashier almost sent me out the door without fries. She went into the kitchen herself to get them, but unfortunately they were also not the type I ordered. Given we were now three times the length into this ordeal I was originally quoted, my only interest was getting back to work on time. Not even an acknowledgement of faults or the slightest apology from any staff member. Despite my internal frustration, I kindly accepted the order, thanked the cashier & wished them a nice day. (Maybe they were having an off day for all I know.) The jerk chicken taco flavor was good, but probably would have been better had it not been sitting so long getting cold. The amount of meat was adequate for the price. The steak birria tacos were mostly bland but at least hot. The blandness could have been due their rushed creation/assembly, but if that is their norm they are not worth the price. The fries were average at best. I cannot see ever coming back here with so many nearby options with exponentially better management & service. Or just head to Pilsen for better...
Read moreThis was my friend and I first time here, For starters, we were not greeted at the door we had to walk over to the bar to ask do we seat ourselves or wait on someone. The manger I’m assuming stated we have to wait to be seated. We waiting for some time for the waiter to come and tell us it was either a 20min wait or we could sit at the bar. (Which who did not wait us the entire time we were there) Ok fine we sit at the bar, we ordered drinks. If you’re a drinker you will definitely like their drinks because they are strong.(as for me I’m not much of a drinker, so it was strong for me) My food came about maybe 5-10mins before my friends did, and I felt bad I had my food before hers i ended up sharing with her. So I had about 5 little cut up chicken breast in my Alfredo pasta, the chicken was very very spicy. Luckily I love spice so it was fine, but I do feel like it was over spicy compared to other places that sells jerk chicken. Now don’t get me wrong the flavor was there for sure. My friend ordered the honey bourbon fish and she didn’t like the fact they poured the sauce on top of it because it was all over the plate and she couldn’t even dip her fish in it, but again the flavor was there. I ordered some wings to go for my husband and he was highly disappointed.( on the menu that you pull up on their site says you can get apple bourbon sauce on the wings when I asked this, they stated you can’t get that flavor on wings, so instead he got hot honey.) He said they were baby wings and it look like they cut up 5 wings and called it a “10 pice”. He said they were basic he had better wings at a asian restaurant. I also will say be prepared to over pay for your food as well. Because I’ve had these same dishes at other places for a much cheaper price and it...
