Don‘t go here if you are ordering carry out, expect timely and courteous service, and hot/warm food. We placed our order for pickup at 8pm. We were told that it would be ready at 8:30. We got there at 8:35. They didn’t start cooking our food until around 8:50. Finally around 9:05, our food was ready. Needless to say that after finally getting our food and getting home, which is a few minutes away, the food was cold.

I recognize and appreciate that all businesses are now dealing with staffing issues. However, I called first and was required to pay for the food during the call (I now know why). If, when calling at 8, I was told that our food would not be ready until 9:05, perhaps we would have made a different decision about where to eat. This restaurant knew that they were busy and decided that it was better for them for us to wait than be up front about the real wait time.

When I questioned the manager about why it took over an hour to make 8 tacos, he displayed a nasty attitude and complete disregard for the wasted time we spent waiting on our food. Rather than try to explain what happened with our order, he curtly decided to either offer a refund or finish preparing our food. After already waiting an hour we decided to waste more time waiting for our food.

There are many good options on Taylor street that respect their customers and their time. We definitely won’t be...

Service was terrible. Food was meh. They weirdly put raw onions on everything so order accordingly. Messed up my order. Added onions, didn't put sour cream that I asked for. Everyone makes mistakes. I give everyone grace. It can't be an easy job. But here's the problem: gave it back to them for a remake. They literally SCRAPED the onions off and squirted sour cream on it. The manager came out, asked what the problem was after I gave it back to them again because the onions were still under the steak you missed scraping. She was more concerned about telling me I normally had to pay for sour cream that wasn't on the ticket. I explained that I ordered it and assumed I paid for it. She was more concerned about charging me for something than getting right what was wrong in the first place. So....it didn't really stand out from current or previous Mexican spots on Taylor St on the tacos and nachos (they stack the nachos weird also) we ordered. Service would have been better at the maxwell street at 11pm with a line half a block long. Maybe she was having a bad day. I wasn't until she transferred that energy over a meat filled flour tortilla with the wrong ingredients. First and last...

Placed a DoorDash order here to try their food. Just for them to give my order to someone, and because they didn’t make sure that the person who picked up my order checked off that they, in fact, picked up the order. The dasher ended up stealing my order. I decided to call the restaurant to tell them that 4 dashers have gone to pick my order but nothing is going on. The supervisor Blanca, said that there’s nothing she can do that it’s not the first time this has happened, that DoorDash has to replace the order, which they can’t because my order has not been delivered, which is why they keep sending someone. She said she won’t redo the order even though this is all in her as a supervisor and manager.

You’re telling me that this is not the first time this has happened and you are not making sure that dashers/delivery drivers are checking off that they actually picked up the order and I still have to redo the order and wait a whole another hour instead of remaking the order? You decide the the best course of action is to make a customer jump hoops? Nope....

I recently visited Chilango, and it was an experience worth sharing. The atmosphere was lively, with a casual, welcoming vibe that instantly made me feel at home. I decided to try their chicken bowl, and it did not disappoint. The chicken was perfectly cooked—juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. Each bite was complemented by fresh, vibrant ingredients, creating a perfect balance of textures and tastes. The seasoning had just the right amount of kick, making every mouthful exciting without being overwhelming. What I loved most was how fresh and thoughtfully prepared everything felt. From the moment I took my first bite, I could tell that care had gone into crafting the bowl. It wasn’t just a meal—it was an experience, satisfying both my hunger and my craving for something flavorful and comforting. Overall, Chilango is a spot I’d gladly return to. Whether you’re looking for a quick lunch or a flavorful dinner, their bowls hit the mark. My chicken bowl was a simple meal elevated by quality ingredients and attention to detail.

I visited Chilango on Saturday June 24th where I spent nearly $50 for tacos. However 1 shrimp taco was missing. I visited again the next day Sunday June 25th where I spent nearly $40. I spoke with the manager Janet where I asked her if they could provide me with the missing taco from the previous night since I provided my funds. She said no because I didn’t call Saturday night to notify them. <pictured> On Saturday my order was placed at 9:36 pm. By the time I made it home the restaurant was closed, 10pm. Never the less her service was horrible despite the good food. And for that reason alone I won’t be back. I recommend additional training in this area for the manager Janet, as one $4.25 taco has cost you a faithful customer. I spent nearly $100 at this place in less than a 24 hour span and unfortunately Janet has ruined it for me. Check your orders before leaving. No accountability on Chilangos end.

Quaint taco shop near UIC campus. The prices are pretty low for Chicago and the workers were nice. The sauces for the table were a spicy verde, a medium chipotle sauce, and a not-spicy Mayo. A solid 4.5 star place. Burrito - absolutely loaded with filling! Little too much lettuce but tasted very authentic, especially with the verde and chipotle salsas on top. Veggie taco - I was surprised they used onion, bell pepper, mushroom, and corn (usually it’s just mushroom). They were cooked perfectly in a nice oil, though I felt the double corn tortilla wrap was unnecessary. Empanada - great roasted filling on the inside, not very crunchy/crispy on the outside. If fried a bit longer, would’ve been even better.
