Slightly Toasted — Restaurant in West Chicago Township

I came to Slightly Toasted for lunch and I found my new favorite. Aly helped me with the menu in recommending the different menu items good for sharing. First from the "Shareables", we ordered the Garlic Pretzel Knot and I've never had anything like this. It was very flavorful. The mustard really put it all together, and the buratta on top.... It was perfect. Then we decided to order a burger to split, so we ordered the ST Burger, it was very good. Definitely would come here again for the burger. We also ordered the Avocado toast, my favorite. It was very fresh and a good amount of flavor. Truly appreciated that. Also, the bacon and egg toast was really good. The sourdough bread with both of the toast was perfect. Just the toast alone, is a great reason to come here for breakfast, lunch, or even dinner. Definitely adding this to my favorites...

I'm being generous with three stars only because the wine was decent. My friend and I had lunch here several weeks prio and really liked the ambiance and salads. Very fresh. We enjoyed it so much we decided to go again for drinks and appetizers. We enjoyed our wine but we were very disappointed in the Chef's choice- meat & cheese board. They should have told us they were out of that item because what we ended up with was crumbled blue cheese and crumbled feta cheese, something you would expect on a salad. The other cheese on the board was sliced cheese, something you would expect on a burger. The real disappointment was what they considered prosciutto, which in reality was bacon. Really, bacon on a meat & cheese board? We may go back but not for the bacon & processed...

In an area full of depressing train bars and whatever it is you call Dylan's, this bar stands out as a classy choice, with high quality drinks and tasty food. If you're looking for somewhere to go after work that isn't filled with a bunch of sad people downing well martinis before they get on a train to see their families in the suburbs, this is the place.

That said, it's my experience with the staff that has me giving three stars. I always get the feeling I'm annoying the servers by wanting to order. And that's after a long wait just to find one.

In my experience, this isn't a place that will make you feel particularly welcome. But, again, the drinks and food are top notch, so if you don't particularly care about the (lack of) love, I highly recommend...
