Smoothie King — Restaurant in West Chicago Township

I ordered a smoothie on the smoothie king app today 09/29/2025 when I arrived they told me the ingredients they needed for my smoothie was out of stock and they weren't able to give me a refund in the store because I ordered online. This is the 2nd time I've ordered a pick up from this specific location and ingredients were out of stock. I feel like the employees need additional training because it has to be some type of way they should be able to issue out refunds or at least call the customer ahead of time so they won't waste their time heading to the location. Also due to the fact that this smoothie king is right in the middle of the medical district they should be stocked up on ingredients at all times. The employee told me that I can come in tomorrow and just get a free smoothie because she works tomorrow and walked me through the smoothie king app on how to file a complaint. They never have the stuff for their smoothies. At the end of every week they are out of their fruits. I go on Friday’s for the 32 oz for the price of the 20 oz and they’ve been out of almost all of their fruit each time. Last time they had no mango, no banana, no pineapple, and no papaya. For the strawberry/banana smoothie they said, “you can have extra strawberries if you want.” They are so slow as well. We’ve stood there for over 20 minutes twice now and one time they weren’t even busy. Other people complain about it to them and they just stare at them like they don’t know that they are moving so slow. Everyone we work with at the hospital that have gone there have said they aren’t going back. I just got there for the Friday deal but you have to order like 30 minutes ahead of time and then they won’t tell you they are out of EVERYTHING until you get there....

For a company that prioritizes customer service, this store has really bad customer service. Multiple of my colleagues have said they’ve walked out after waiting at the register for 2 solid minutes for their order to be taken, just for the workers to be huddled together talking and staring. My first time going here I waited 30 whole minutes for my smoothie bowl, and with no urgency whatsoever, when someone finally came to make my order, they started making it, and then they paused… proceeded to take off their shoes!!!
