I recently dined at this outdoor restaurant, seated at the back near an alley. During my meal, I saw a rat run, the rat pass behind my table and hide behind the building where they store pizza boxes. I informed the manager, but he dismissed it, saying it was common and not a big deal. I was eating a pizza at the time and, despite witnessing this, I took my pizza to go but did not eat it. I paid for it, which seemed to give the manager the confidence to tell me that this situation was absolutely normal and that rats never enter the restaurant. He also mentioned that in a big city, this is a common occurrence.
To add to my confusion, other diners seemed unfazed by the incident, which left me wondering if this is a common situation in Chicago or specific to this restaurant. I am unsure if I am overreacting, or if it truly is normal for rats to pass close to dining areas. However, I believe that rats are creatures that always find a way into places where there is food and where they can feel comfortable. This should not be treated so casually.
Unfortunately I won't come back to this...
Read moreGreat pizza, and salad. Awesome deals when you sign up for their text alerts. Friendly staff and a manager/owner who supports his Logan Sq community! A fun atmosphere that is friendly for all. Today there were small parties as well as people working on laptops and a few larger parties with a ton of kids and everyone was happy. I watched the staff interact with patrons and each other and their vibe was awesomely happy. I feel the need to edit my original post to address the people reviewing (w low ratings) and comparing to The Boiler Room. It’s a different restaurant. This isn’t about comparing. Yes, it’s sad to see something go out of our community but now we have something more family friendly with an owner who was recognized some of the staples, like the PBJ. The owner is also amazingly generous with donations, fundraisers and those in need in our community. He’s very much in tune with Logan Square and I’m happy to patronize a restaurant that has a deeper meaning....
Read moreThe writing next to the men's urinals said it best: One patron wrote "I miss boiler room" and someone (probably management) wrote "then don't come here". After having been here, I will heed that advice and not come back.
Pizza was mediocre at best. Especially after hearing about the place that used to be there (Boiler Room - with Pizza+Beer+Jameson deals and Jameson soft served which have only been described to me as absolutely amazing). The atmosphere/decoration screamed "I want to be a popular chain restaurant" and felt really inauthentic and weird. The only positive thing I can say about it is that they let you do individualized checks -- though it was quite atrocious that the default tip is 25% and to give anything lower than 20 (e.g. to give the customary 15%) you have to do...
