I've been told they hold the title of best bar food in the city, not sure if its a real award or self proclaimed but the food was on point.
The brunch menu is quite small with 5 egg dishes and 7 non-egg options, but don't fret the beer menu is still huge! I started with the 19.5% Not Your Fathers Root beer as it was the same price as all the other beers but 3x the power! My friend got the blackberry Mimossa at $7, it was pretty but it contains campari, so unless you like bitter, this is not the drink for you.
I got the breakfast burger which was really good - $10 Sunny-side up egg, maple syrup, home fries. The syrup didn't really tie any of the flavors together, so its really just a good burger with an egg on top, but I can't hate on that.
My companion got the Bagels and Lox- $ 8 Herbed cream cheese, gravlax, vine-ripened tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions. I have never been a lox girl, but it was delicious, chewy asiago bagel half smeared with am amazing super herbed cream cheese and topped with bright arugula.
I am recommending it to all of you and I will...
Read moreTuman's is a staple in the Ukrainian Village (dare I say historic landmark). This corner/neighborhood bar has got it all - great food, drinks and service. Depending on the time of day, I'd recommend the omelet, the chopped salad, the burger, or the espresso martini (I'd recommended Joe's espresso martini any time of day really). The last 6 years I've lived in Minneapolis; however, whenever I'd visit Chicago - Tumans was/is always a stop I have to make. The service and staff is incredible and so welcoming. You can tell they truly appreciate and care for every customer that walks through the door and they always take the time to walk you through the latest recommendations. I've been there many a time with large groups, celebrating birthdays, engagements, or your standard Friday/Saturday hangouts. The way Sarah can maneuver and manage a big crowd AND still get everyone's order right will never cease to amaze me. In short, amazing bar with amazing people/staff who have become the reason I come back over and over...
Read moreThis is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago. It deserves 6 stars TBH. The Amish Chicken Dinner is a god among men when it comes to dinner options. The shallot gravy lava pool inside whipped mash potatoes and a cluster of char grilled broccoli support some of the tastiest chicken bits I’ve ever had. Every item on the menu is a banger. The staff are like your best friends. They pour you an honest drink and give you a spot at the bar to unwind and kvetch about work. Sarah was the first person I met at Truman’s after moving to the neighborhood and she is a legend. She gives you the living room pour of wine and knows exactly which dish beckons your fancy. I come here every week usually twice. The move is red wine with the Amish chicken dinner. You’ll get two meals out of it unless you hit the sativa before showing up. End your dinner with an old fashion equipped with the high end cherries and thank me in the morning. Tuman’s hits hard on...
