Living in Ukrainian Village, the joy of stumbling upon new and exciting restaurants is a constant perk, and TTS Tacos and Tequilas proved to be a delightful find. The moment I walked in, the place exuded an inviting vibe that instantly drew me in.
On a whim, I decided to celebrate my birthday here for lunch, expecting a Tequila-infused celebration. To my surprise, TTS is a BYOB joint, which, though slightly disappointing, didn't dampen the overall experience. The restaurant's vibrant, fresh, and funky decor immediately caught my attention, creating an atmosphere that added to the overall enjoyment.
For my order, I went with the horchata, steak tacos, guacamole with salsa, and choriqueso. While the steak tacos burst with flavor, they arrived lukewarm, which was a minor letdown as I anticipated them to be piping hot. Nevertheless, the taste was phenomenal, offering a satisfying blend of savory goodness.
The true star of the show, however, was the Jalapeno salsa provided at the table. This condiment took my taste buds on an unforgettable journey. I can't find words adequate enough to describe its amazing flavor profile--beyond amazing doesn't even do it justice. I liberally drenched my tacos and chips in this salsa, and OMG, it was a game-changer. TTS Tacos and Tequilas has truly perfected this salsa, and I find myself still daydreaming about it.
Overall, TTS Tacos and Tequilas is a great spot that left a positive impression. Despite the slight temperature hiccup with the steak, the exceptional flavors and the unforgettable Jalapeno salsa make it a place worth revisiting. I'll definitely be returning for more of that...
Read moreMexican food is arguably my favorite cuisine, so I was delighted that TTS was opening a few steps away from my work.
The service was amazing. The staff was all cheerful and pleasant to speak to throughout my lunch break.
I typically get tacos when I try a new Mexican restaurant as I believe getting the simple things right sets the tone. I ordered steak, al pastor, and birria tacos all with cilantro, onion, and lime. Each one was absolutely delicious. The al pastor with pineapple was an amazing touch. Not all taquerias take the initiative to add in pineapple so it was a welcome surprise. The steak quality was definitely a tier above other local spots. Cooked with a bit of char for flavor. Loved that. The birria was juicy, flavorful, and tender. Absolutely melted in my mouth.
It's a nice change of pace to finally have a delicious authentic Mexican restaurant in the area. I can't wait to come back and try something else on the menu next time. This will be a for sure taco and margs location once they get their liquor license.
Forgot to take pictures once I got the food...
Read moreAs a finicky Latina, who cooks Mexican food. Wowed! First, Nathan was an excellent host. The vegetarian taco was an actual vegetarian taco & really good! (plenty of veggies) The chips were fresh - both the red & green salsa’s were great. My hubby had steak & pork belly tacos. He ‘s quite particular about the meat & he also loved his tacos. The space is clean & has a metro tavern style. (It’s cute) Additionally, there’s outdoor seating. There are a lot of Mexican restaurants in Chi but in my humble opinion it is hard to find a place that serves good food. That said, 🙏🏻👏🏼! Thank you to Nathan & his familia for staying within integrity of serving authentic quality Mexican...
