2/28/2024- I don't usually do a post this quick but if you're planning to go by here today, know this now, they DO NOT HAVE FOOT LONG DOGS!
I saw the new owner on the news. He seems energetic and excited to own both locations. I like to support local businesses before a franchise so I came to try half off dogs.
All I've heard is the hype of this place having great hot dogs. I'm new here so I went. I didn't mind having it to go due to the weather. I didn't mind the only item half off is the hot dog.
Not having foot long dogs during your opening week is mismanagement. I feel cheated because it changed my lunch break to pick different items.
This is what $16.20 will get you. Plus according to the girl with a nose ring, lip ring and long eye lashes everyone leaves her a tip. The attitude she had was miserable so I gave her $1 for bringing my food in this weather.
My tip, is to smile. Don't act like the customer is putting you out. They are there to buy food from your place. If you smile more your tip will at least be the usual 20% they ask. If you do not learn to smile it's going to be a long summer if this is your only job. I say this not to hurt, but to help.
I ordered the Texas Burger š they said it had their Coney sauce. All I see is mayonnaise which isn't on the menu unless that's the sauce. I hate Mayo. The burger is bare. If I want to eat three pieces of bread there's a place way ahead of you.
The sauce on the dog is okay. Not my choice. In closing I don't think I'll go back. There are better places to eat for that amount if cost is an issue.
As for me cost becomes an issue if I get an attitude on my lunch. I don't know what it's like to hire kids these days but train them to be nice.
There was a nice girl wearing a gray jacket who answered my questions on the system. She's the reason for the fair rating.
No worries. This was my last meal....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLike most of the other reviews on here mine will be positive, Iāve been coming here to eat Since I was little and I donāt think Iāll ever stop coming here to eat, I love it! Everything about this place is awesome their food is so good I love about everything on the menu and even get me started on their root beer! I know some people donāt like root beer but I promise youād probably like this kind of root beer, they have awesome shakes and hot dogs! They have amazing prices and just a really good experience for the whole family I hope they stay around for years to come! This is a drive up and eat in your car or is that isnāt your thing you can sit in their picnic area where you can order through an intercom system, if you do get root beer get it in a frosted mug you can thank me later! Here is also a little bit of the history of the dog n suds chain restaurant. āThe first Dog n Suds was opened in 1953 in Champaign, Illinois, by University of Illinois music teachers James Griggs and Don Hamacher. The chain grew rapidly throughout the 1950s and 1960s, and a training center was established in Champaign, named "Rover College" after the dog on the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHavenāt seen one of these places since I was a kid! Stopped in around 8:30 on a Monday night. Had the charo bacon cheeseburger basket. Super yummy! Bacon was surprisingly real bacon and not floppy chewy bacon. Fries were nice and crispy. I didnāt try the coleslaw since thatās not my cup of tea. Root beer was nice in the frozen mugs. Fresh food being close to closing. My husband had the coney burger and coney cheese fries. Coney sauce is delicious and I will have to order it when we come back. $20 bucks for 2 people is very reasonable. Read the history sign and the place has been owned by the same family for over 40 years and there are 2 now.
Place was clean and staff was friendly. Especially since we ordered a regular and a diet root beer, they didnāt tell us which one was which. We couldnāt tell, so they brought us out 2 new ones and said which was diet the 2nd time around.
We will come back when we pass through here again. Thanks for keeping a nostalgic drive in...
