El Vesubio — Restaurant in West New York

I had previously given this place a good review, but I'm editing it to 1 star because of the service, which I usually would never do, but hear me out as this is pretty egregious.

First time I visited in Feb 2022, I waited in line behind 3 other people. When it got to my time to order, the counter lady skipped me, and asked the woman behind me on line what she wanted. I thought it was weird but didn't speak up because 1. I didn't speak spanish, and 2. didn't want to be rude. Then, when the counter lady skipped me again, I realized something was up and said hey, I was next, to which the counter lady literally glared at me and ignored me.

Finally, when she tried skipping me again, the gentleman behind me corrected the counter lady, and in ENGLISH said "no, he is next" while pointing at me. To which she begrudgingly took my order, while legitimately scowling at me.

The cuban sandwich was pretty good, so I left it at that. However, going again a couple days ago, literally the same thing happened to me. I don't know if it's because the people working here are racist, but I'm not a rude customer. I politely waited, asked other patrons what was going on, and never yelled or made a big fuss. I just walked out the second time it happened.

Maybe the owners can respond, but if you're not a spanish speaking person, I wouldn't bother coming here. Twice this happened, put a really bad taste in my mouth the...

Upon entering the location, I was denied a table because I had my service dog. I also was with a toddler and just wanted a quick bite to eat. The owners were very rude and so was the staff. The bald owner spoke nasty in spanish and insulted me. I explained that I am protected under federal law and even showed my service animals tags and card voluntary. And explained the law in spanish. The owner asked where the dog is going to sit, mind you he is a 6 pound dog. And said he can't eat any of his food, my service dog is trained not to beg and nor does he eat table food. I had to report the location to the police because of the way they treated me nasty and against Federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). My wife ordered picadillo. It was a little over salted and needed some added cumin. Yucca was soft and to my liking missing the mojo. Black and white rice and beans mix was lacking on the cilantro or culantro and was too dry for my taste. The little details are killing this place from being 4 or 5 stars. It's basically a cafeteria style take-out mostly cuban spot but I wish it was so much more. I ordered Boliche. The meat was tender and the sauce was alright but the slices were real thin. I think inflation is hurting us on the serving size. Service was not good were the girl that was serving us was also taking care of the counter and she took to long to bring us the check and In general to bring us our stuff.
