Five Stars for Buccan Sandwich Shop, Palm Beach: “When Your Wallet Cries But Your Taste Buds Throw a Party”
Let me start with the hard truth: Buccan's sandwiches cost more than some people's car payments. I'm pretty sure I saw someone take out a small loan at the counter, and honestly? I respect that financial commitment because these sandwiches are worth every penny you'll cry over later.
The Carpaccio sandwich is the undisputed heavyweight champion of the sandwich world. It's like someone took the concept of "fancy Italian beef" and said, "But what if we made it so good that people would sell their firstborn for another bite?" This sandwich doesn't just raise the bar – it pole vaults over it while doing a backflip and landing in a split.
The beef is so tender it practically apologizes for taking up space on the bread. The flavors are so perfectly balanced that I'm convinced they have a team of scientists in the back calculating the precise ratio of ingredients needed to achieve sandwich nirvana. It's the kind of sandwich that makes you question whether you've been living your entire life wrong up until this moment.
Yes, you'll pay Palm Beach prices, which means your credit card will send you a concerned text asking if you've been kidnapped. But this is one of those rare occasions where expensive actually means "so incredible you'll dream about it for weeks." I've paid less for concert tickets and gotten significantly less satisfaction.
The staff treats each sandwich like they're crafting the Mona Lisa of lunch meat, and frankly, that's the respect these culinary masterpieces deserve. The atmosphere screams "upscale casual," which in Palm Beach translates to "you can wear flip-flops but they better be designer."
Bottom line: Buccan doesn't just make sandwiches; they create edible poetry that happens to cost as much as a mortgage payment. The Carpaccio sandwich alone justifies the existence of this place, your empty wallet, and possibly the entire concept of premium ingredients. Five stars and worth every financially...
Read moreI placed an online order about 25 minutes ahead and got a message that it was ready right on time. If you’re ordering from here, I recommend doing it about 30 minutes in advance for a smooth pickup.
I got the Steak Bomb, Yellowfin Tuna (no lettuce), and one house-made chips. The Steak Bomb was really good—flavorful and satisfying for me . My family thought the meat was a bit salty, though I didn’t mind it , Still, if you’re sensitive to salt, it might be something to consider. I think the salt actually worked well, but a little less wouldn’t hurt.
The Yellowfin Tuna was ordered for someone else, but I tried it. Personally, it was too sour for me. The sauce was pretty strong and kind of overpowered the tuna. If you like a meaty flavor and aren’t into heavy sauces, it might not be your thing.
The house-made chips looked great but were a letdown. They had a fishy taste—like they were cooked in fish oil—and the crunch faded into an oily . Definitely not something I’d get again.
Overall, the food was ready on time (when ordered online )and the Steak Bomb made it worth the trip. Just a few things to keep in mind depending...
Read morePrimarily reviewing food as I ordered for pickup. Firstly, the sandwich is surreal. Fantastic, amazing, outstanding!!! Pick one. The best sandwich in Florida and I’d be tempted to anywhere. As I have been everywhere. But I’ve been many places and this beats them all.
I had the Italian sandwich cold and no substitutions. The bread is not too thick or thin. A pleasant chew and not dry in the least. The quality of the meat, cheese, and produce, OMG!!!
You could taste each different cut of meat. The cheese wasn’t over powering. Perfect intensity. Lettuce nice crisp. Good tomatoes. Peppers gave the right amount of heat.
No lie when I say it was the PERFECT ratio. Not so many vegetables and so little meat that you wonder what you’re paying for. Proportions allowed for total flavor
Price? Shut up!!! I didn’t even pay $15 for it and I would easily pay twice that. Ok maybe not twice but you get the idea.
As for the service they people at window were polite but they just handed me sandwiches so….Pick up is simple. Side window next to the giant flamingo. Can’t miss it.
Thanks Buccan. I will routinely drive from Orlando for...
