Today I received a call from my mom crying because she experienced such a horrible phone call with, come to find out, the owner of the restaurant. My mother made a reservation online to go celebrate her friend's birthday and she received a call from the restaurant to confirm the reservation and see if there were any dietary restrictions. In my mom's excitement to share the reason for her visit (a birthday celebration), she was rudely yelled at to list any dietary restrictions. This was such a shock to her and she became frazzled on the call and was trying her best to answer the question. She was yelled at once more by the owner because they canāt accommodate any restrictions within short notice (this is understandable) but at that point, my mom was emotional from being treated like that. I called the restaurant and spoke with Audrey, the owner, directly and although she apologized, I understand why my mom felt the way she did. Audrey tried to justify the reason the conversation went the way it did was because my mom wasnāt understanding her and she was dealing with a customer at the time. Patience is a virtue and Iām sure hearing someoneās excitement to go to your restaurant to celebrate a birthday is a conversation worth having. It is not my mother's fault that she decided to assist a customer while on the phone? I understand it may have been busy, but the conversation was not going to be more than 5 minutes.
Obviously, I canceled the reservation since my mom couldnāt imagine how she would be treated in person if that was the treatment she received on the phone. The most interesting part was when Audrey tried to justify why she yelled on the phone- this is never justifiable. And she seemed like she couldn't care less that the reservation was canceled.
The restaurant itself is cute, and the food is great (weāve gone in the past for my mom's birthday, ironically). Unfortunately, today's situation has left us feeling disheartened and disappointed and obviously we will never go back.
Kindness and patience goes a long way and I hope this can...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were a party of 6 for my daughters 10th birthday, but added two extra guest 48hrs before. They were willing to accommodate the request but had to seat us at separate tables. This is understandable because they only have one table for 8 and it was already reserved. When we arrived, there was a table next to ours that would have made some of our gusts more comfortable because it had a bit more room but we were told we couldnāt sit there. We stayed for 2 hours during which time that table sat empty. So it seemed a bit frustrating as we were cramped where we were. The waitress was pleasant and informative. She provided good service. That is the only reason Iām not giving 1 star. The scones were very good also. Otherwise, The space is very small and cramped. The AC canāt keep up, so be prepared to sweat. When the food came out, the salad was old and slimy, and my quiche was burnt. When the salad dressing was finally brought to the table, my mom said, āthank you, we were just about to ask if you had any dressing.ā To which the owner replied, āwell we only have two hands and two legs.ā in a snarky tone. The owner was rude at every interaction and made us feel like we were inconveniencing her. I was really disappointed overall. I have been coming here over the last 20 years and the experience has gone way down hill. If you are celebrating a special occasion and hoping to have a fun time, this is not that. This is overpriced, poor food in a hot, cramped room where you are made to feel like an imposition. I wonāt be going back. I would find a...

Suddenly, tea became a charming experience, and finger sandwiches without the crust became a delightful adventure of the senses. It was a little girl's dream tea party come to life and how grateful am I that for a moment, I got to be the little girl and not just the older lady. ššš I had the high tea experience.
Intentional pauses turned into enchanted moments. š¹ the ambiance imprisoned me while the swirl of flavors made love to my senses... in this moment, my realm was fleeting.
For me, it was the simple reflection of the umbrella in my spoon that I so appreciated as we sat outside....and it was the precious name tag on my tea pot that made my experience so magical. It's the divets in the baby blue tabletop and the translucent flower napkin ring that hugs my pink napkin. It was the fragrance of the Berry Brulee tea wafted in the gentle breeze and the sound of 1940s music resonating š¶ in the near distance. Today, I was completely enchanted.
Our server, Tanya Lynn, was beyond delightful, and the owner made it her mission to come over to say hello and made sure we were completely satisfied.
Lucky for me, I work just down the block, and I'm over the moon that I stumbled upon this dream of an establishment.
I have already been back twice, and I look forward to many more...
