A Morning of Enchantment at Hive Bakery & Café
On a sun-drenched morning in West Palm Beach, my friends and I found ourselves stepping into a realm of culinary delight and botanical beauty at Hive Bakery & Café. Located at the vibrant heart of 1603 S. Dixie Hwy, this chic café promised a breakfast experience wrapped in elegance and warmth, a promise it kept from the moment we entered.
The greenroom, where we dined, was an oasis of tranquility and exquisite beauty, adorned with hanging orchids that seemed to dance in the light filtering through the windows. The ambiance was a captivating blend of nature and nourishment, setting the stage for a breakfast experience unlike any other.
Our table was a canvas of fresh-baked pastries, each a testament to the café's commitment to scratch-made excellence. The pastries, varying in textures and tastes, were flawlessly executed, marrying quality with flavor in every bite. My choice, the eggs Benedict, was a revelation in its simplicity and execution — perfectly poached eggs atop a golden, crisp English muffin, all brought together by a velvety hollandaise sauce. My friends explored other breakfast dishes, each echoing the freshness and culinary craftsmanship that Hive Bakery & Café is renowned for.
Service at Hive is not just a process but an experience, exemplified by Joseph, our server. His attentiveness was remarkable, anticipating our needs with a grace and ease that added to the morning's enjoyment. Joseph's ability to engage in warm conversation while ensuring everything was just perfect made our breakfast not just a meal, but a memorable encounter.
While Hive Bakery & Café is known to fill up, buzzing with the energy of its patrons and sometimes a bit loud, it only adds to the vivacious atmosphere that makes this place unique. The buzz is not a distraction but a testament to the café's popularity and the vibrant life it brings to the West Palm Beach culinary scene.
For those seeking a breakfast that blends high culinary art with the serene beauty of nature, Hive Bakery & Café is a must-visit. It's a place where food is made with passion, service is delivered with care, and the ambiance invites you to stay a little longer. And while you're there, asking for Joseph might just be the secret to making a great morning...
Read moreI've updated the review from a recent experience last week, January 29th, 2024. I was a party of 5 and they had no tables and said we could sit outside on the patio and self serve. It was a terrible experience that I wish we had not done. The QR menus were not complete and I had to walk around and back inside (many times) to get what I wanted since the menu didn't have certain options that I always get there. The food came out at very different times for our party of 5, again a weakness in the ordering system for self serve. The food is served by a staff member, but served in to go containers and cups. Why? If we are eating on premises and spending almost $30 each for breakfast I would like a coffee mug, plate, and silverware. The manager was amazing and accommodating bringing us all coffee mugs. One of the coffee's didn't get out to the table until after the food was consumed and gone, that same order which was my brothers wrap didn't have the tomatoes and its was called a spinach and tomato wrap. My avocado toast was terrible, I didn't even finish it and it was $18 for a piece of toast with bad avocado on it. The avocado was greenish brown and had no flavor and the grilled toast was greasy and the home fries on the side were deep fried to a crisp with no flavor. I would expect a place like this to serve home fries with something like rosemary and sea salt and leave some potato in the inside of the fries instead of over frying. Better yet bake your fries for better flavor and health. The quiche was good my friend said. The coffee is always good and the atmosphere really is very nice. My recommendation is to either tell people if they sit outside it is basically a "to go" experience or better yet just serve on plates and get someone to bus the table after or put a shelf for self bussing outside. And get better with the food. At the prices charged it should be 4-5 star food. Just my opinion of course.
Old review- Food can be very good but not consistently. The bakery looks phenomenal but tastes a little above average, could be much better! The bread is very good. I go for the bread and the coffee which is from NY...
Read moreFirst let me say I rarely leave a negative review of any restaurant. If I have a poor meal or substandard service, I chalk it up to experience and move on. Today’s experience at Hive restaurant in West Palm Beach however, deserves mention. My party of 3 had a 12:45 reservation. Two of us arrived a little early and were seated at about 12:35 or so. The third guest, who I had not seen for 5 years, arrived at the appointed time (12:45). We ordered around 1 pm and we were served our meal in a timely manner. The food was quite good, the service was very good and the atmosphere was festive. At about 1:40, less than an hour after our reservation time, an employee came to our table holding an acrylic frame with the “rules” regarding how long one can stay at the table. According to this woman, one hour and 15 minutes was the limit. She explained that they were backed up and there was no room at the front door for those waiting. The most annoying part of this was that one of my guests had still not finished her dessert. Understandably, my guest was offended by this request to vacate the table, and she let the employee know that she was still eating her cookie. Her response was that we could stay for 5 more minutes. No thank you. We had only been there for around an hour!! We left the remaining dessert and departed at 1:50. As I exited, I glanced at the front door, I saw no one crowding the entrance? As a retired small business owner, I knew that my success was dependent on how I treated those whom I served. This was an embarrassing experience for me and my guests, and a poor ending to an otherwise good experience. Restaurant owners who forget who is responsible for their success is doomed to eventually struggle. I hope you take this as...
