Dontee's Diner — Restaurant in West Palm Beach

I've been going here for over 20 years and just now writing a review-geez! I have to say this family owned and operated restaurant is a good standard breakfast joint! The food is decent and not as expensive as a couple others nearby. If I want the standard "breakfast special" for $4.95, I come here. Can't be beat, however, watch the up-charges, the $4.95 breakfast can go to $11.00+ fast! (Hence the 4 stars.) Update: Down to 2 stars...I brought friends here from out of town and one friend's hash browns were cold and not cooked through. Another friend got something other than what he asked for. I got a club sandwich which was sub standard. Unfortunately the tomatoes looked like they were cut the day before so they were not fresh (you know??). The turkey was pretty bland, the bacon was overcooked, too much mayonnaise. It's amazing that you could screw up a club sandwich. Instead of the fries I got the potato salad which was yuck. Not quite sure how to say what it was like but guess it was out of a tub. The reason I give it 3 stars is because they do have a really good breakfast and the servers have been there for years and really know how to get your food to your quickly. I just don't think I'll be back here to eat anything other than breakfast which they serve all day....

I have been bringing friends and family here for years. Fresh and flavorful offerings on the menu, and a robust rotation of specials means I have never been disappointed. We arrive at 11:30 Saturday morning, to a perfect 8 minute wait. What? Cheers! What, might you ask, is better than classic breakfast and lunch selections at a great price? The service! THESE LADIES HUSTLE! The longest I've ever waited was about 20 minutes, but the time flies by as the owner regularly engages customers and proudly shows you the photo wall of her beautiful family. My server today was Cherry. She was friendly and attentive and in such a genuine manner ( I would wait for one of her tables in the future.) Big hugs! Our meals were cleanly plated and super appetising, The low, happy chatter in the dining room shows I am not the only person who is having a great breakfast and a good time. I leave, as always, full and happy. Experience is everything. Til next...

I decided to go here for breakfast. This tall young man tells me sit anywhere. So I sit. I wait about 15 minutes before being asked for even a coffee. At that moment I’m debating on wether to stay or leave, the place was not busy... I get my coffee and the waitress takes me order..... I start eating and a bug comes from behind salt and pepper, I’m not sure if it was a roach or baby cricket but it was nasty, I called the young man over, trying not to freak, not saying a word he says I see it... gets it and asks if I want another table, I said no.... I eat the rest of my breakfast, almost couldn’t after that, I go and pay.... after being in the food business myself, I would think they would compensate me in someway, but no.... I ordered the 4.94 breakfast special, coffee, side of sausage links... end up paying 9.95 + 3.00 for waitress, hmm I won’t be going here again.......
