Tulipan Bakery Inc — Restaurant in West Palm Beach

I have gone to Tulipan on Belvedere for 5 years for a total of 10 times. So twice a year. The place has never had much of an atmosphere. Just order at the counter and go. I went early this last Saturday, 3/23. Wasn't busy. The place was filthy. As if the floors hadn't been swept or mopped in weeks. The glass to the pastries was smudged with dirt, handprints, and just gunk. The women working there were not friendly to anyone. I ordered 5 pastries and a sandwich. The manager used a small box. Stacked my pastries on top of each other. Thus, smashing them. The pastries were ruined for presentation. I had to buy something (somewhere else) else for my event. I tasted the pastries at home. They were awful. I believe the bakery is adding a preservative to their pastries to lengthen shelf life. There was a strong and HORRID aftertaste. I got a second opinion. They agreed. I ended up throwing the pastries away. I will not be back....

This is an awesome place. It is spotless, easy to park, great customer service and, most importantly, the food is great. The baked goods have a bit of an ethnic flair. For example, the lemon bars are made with pudding instead of the typical jelly type filling. The staff doesn't speak good English so you are on your own when it comes to what you are ordering. This is not a place order on line from. You've got to be there in person to know what you are getting. But, everything is excellent. My mother loves the brownie type squares with buttercream frosting and drizzles of caramel. This would be the perfect place to put together a custom made platter for a party. Extremely rude staff. Me and my husband walked in and all 3 staff members behind the counter looked at us as if we were not wanted there and they were annoyed that we even walked in. Neither of them said not one word and we were left to look at the unlabeled desserts wondering what the heck we were looking at and guessing as to what to order. We asked if they had menus to make it easier to choose what we wanted but they didn’t have any either. We ended up ordering whatever we thought looked good with no clue as to what it was. The strawberry shortcake was mediocre with a rotten tasting strawberry on top. It also had some black hard thing at the bottom that looked like rat poop. Overpriced apart from being nasty!
