I grew up in the West where Mexican food is a lot different than what I get here in Southern Missouri. That being said, I am never really satisfied with the food here. The service is great though. I am a Chile Verde person. Chile Verde burrito to be more specific. And, I'm told that it is the Chile Verde burrito in the "wet" style, that I love. Here in Missouri, Chile Verde is just the sauce. I grew up that it has always been stewed for a long time, and always with pork. Here it is just chiles and not much else that I can tell. Anyway, I ordered the Pork Enchiladas, which I don't think I'll order ever again. They came with barely any sauce, and the pork on top was like a garnish. I have settled on this being my go to order recently, but it has steadily gotten smaller. The tortillas are smaller, they don't put pork inside, and the sauce is much less and weaker. Very sad. I will have to switch my go to order when I go next time. If I was in the West, I would find another place. But I am here, so I'll be back... This is an okay place, I am just a bit more picky than the usual Missouri Mexican food customer. This is a nice place to bring lots of people for a nice little celebration. A place to have a little discussion for two. A place where you can get a decent beer or margarita and let someone else serve you for a while. Just don't expect great fare, and you won't be...
Read moreI’ll give this a two stars because our waitress was nice, but didn’t really know what she was talking about. We arrived at the restaurant at 6:58 PM and placed our orders shortly after that. I ordered a burrito California and my boyfriend ordered beef enchiladas. It took 45 minutes for food to come out as we watched all the people that had just sit down get their food , the waitress came out to inform us that there has been a mixup in the kitchen, which we understood. we ended up getting our food, and my burrito is soggy and unflavored and my boyfriends enchiladas tasted like wet cat food with undercooked tortillas with enchilada sauce on top and no cheese. We informed our waitress that enchiladas tasted gross and there is not even cheese on top and she told us that they don’t usually come with shredded cheese on top, which they definitely do who makes enchiladas with no cheese. She was nice enough to take off the enchiladas and one of our drinks off so I definitely do appreciate that but we came down to have a nice dinner And it was far from that. This was our first dinner out since moving here that we finally could afford , and it was far...
Read moreWe have always enjoyed eating at El Charros, but we just left there and the experience was awful. The food came out at 2 separate times. The food was cold and the flavor was terrible. The beans and rice tasted cold and stale, as if it had been sitting a while. My husband's nacho chicken was also cold as if it has been sitting. we also were a family of 5 sat at a tiny little table. There wasn't even enough room for our food. I understand they were busy. It happens. But it's difficult to keep an appetite when the wall above the table is full of sauce and hair stuck too it. My daughter also had a hair on one of her chips. To top it all off the person who brought my husband's plate out dumped hot sauce off the plate onto his arm and all over the table, burning him in the process and didn't even apologize. And the management didn't seem to care and acted like we were just being difficult. We paid $80 for this crapand got home too grossed out to even risk eating it. We will...
