La Abuela Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in West Reading

I ordered at la Abuela so many times I usually get a vegitaria quesillda about twice a month or so I allergic to zucchini so I usually swap it with avacado inside. Today the man rolando gave me such a hard time when placing my order he insisted I had to pay extra for avacado and that he would no continue with my order if I didn’t pay the extra as I’m trying to explain to him why I can’t have zucchini and that this ain’t my first time ordering and that I’m a loyal costumer he had a attitude. I payed for it as I am on lunch break and hungry. He also stated my order wouldn’t be ready in 30 mins there was no one in the store it was beyond disrespectful service and I won’t be eating here again money not the issue costumer service was and clearly can see the lack of it in his experience very sad. Will be going to other Mexican restaurants. Thanks for that...

I went there because a friend told me about the "sopes", well.....I'm from Mexico city, I think I can tell if you have a good deal or not, but as always we all are different so...our tastes. The sopes are good, NOT GREAT....the lettuce to thick, too much chicken,good size, nicely soft acceptable. Also the "eggs with potatoe and chorizo "....definitely NOT GOOD....this dish it should be very tasty, usually the potatoes are diced in small cubes, and fried a little bit in the chorizo grease then all mixed with eggs. ....their version was so far....very disappointed....the refried beans should be that "refried"...not made in the blender....NOT A BAD TASTE.....this place should be good for a person that doesnt know the real mexican...

I've been to a couple of the Wyomissing Mexican chain type restaurants over the last couple of years.

Wanted to find something more authentic so I did a quick search on Yelp and found La Abuela. I've learned that the name means grandmother.

Well let me tell you, grandmother trained her daughter and or staff very well.

This is by far the best Mexican cuisine I've ever had the pleasure of eating!

My lunch partner also enjoyed her meal and had similar comments regarding the quality of the food.

Beyond the good food, the place was meticulously clean and even though it's a small restaurant, very well decorated.

Put it on your list! If I didn't live over an hour and a half away, I'd be here...
