UPDATE! I returned to this restaurant, now named “American Diner.” I ordered the same thing as before. Eggs, home fries, turkey bacon and grits. I also ordered a New York strip steak because that is what my bestie ordered on my last visit. Upon arrival I was immediately taken to my seat. There were plenty of other customers there as well on this Sunday morning. My servers name is Samantha. A very beautiful melanated woman who just happens to look like Clarissa Shields the current GWOAT of female boxing. She was one of the nicest and prettiest servers I’ve had. She was on top of her job and did it very well. There were no problems with my order and she asked several times throughout if I needed anything else. I dove into the grits first because that’s why I was there. I added butter, salt & pepper than dove in and to my surprise, they tasted a lot better than before. The previous time, they weren’t edible, but this time they were so I dug in. I cut the steak and ate a piece and noticed that it was a little tough and it needed more seasoning, but it wasn’t bad at all. I just added some table seasoning and some A1 sauce and everything was fine. The real test was eating the grits with the eggs and bacon I ordered. Well, I ate everything on the table and not once had to ask for a replacement or for something to be made over. It was cool sailing once my food hit the table. No, their grits aren’t the best and still need some work, but they are edible now and will not disappoint those who love them as much as I do. I was impressed with the cooks because the restaurant was packed and my meal was not under or over cooked. Everything turn out great considering how packed it was. I’ve taken the luxury of adding more stars to this review for atmosphere, food, service & overall quality. My name BigDaveIsFat says it all. “Get Your Grub On” folks! Check out the pictures below! “My first review! The grits were the nastiest I've ever attempted to eat. I sent them back seconds after they hit the table. My friends steak was 85 % fat/gristle making it next to impossible to eat. I am a superior grit maker and I suggested they remove this item from their menu until their staff learns how to prepare them properly. The grits you see in this picture were made me. Creamy...
Read moreHonestly, we walked in...it was a ghost town. We were the only customers the entire time we sat there. Our waitress was very nice, the diner was definitely clean, but my fiance and I were not to satisfied with our meals. He had the open face meatloaf with mashed potatoes....it was way to smothered in a loose flavorless gravy, he said not very appetizing at all, and he had the spinach egg drop soup(which he said it was ok)...I had the combo meal of New York steak and crab cake, with french fries on the side....well, they say u shouldn't order steak from a diner and yeap I totally agree, the steak looked watery and microwaved with a whole bunch of peppered seasoning on top of it. the crab cake I actually liked as well as the french fries. The soup I had was chicken and shells...and it pretty much something out of a can...so we were both supposed to get a salad but that never appeared and he wasn't offered a vegetable for his meal, (the mashed potatoes came with it.) So his entree was $9.95, my combo entree was $16.95, then 2 Pepsi's $6.00...so we had asked for the check and our waitress came over and looked at our plates and seen they both were totally filled with the food and asked if we would like some boxes so we could take it home with us and we politely declined and said no thank you and I think she definitely understood why we did not want to bring it with us. Lol but regardless that we did not like the food we did give our waitress a very good tip because she was a very nice and it's obvious that this diner is not getting much business there so I'm sure every dollar helps. So, if I were ever to go there again I definitely wouldn't get an entree like the ones my fiance and I had, I'd probably do something like breakfast or Burger and...
Read moreWent in on Tuesday night after visiting a friend at the hospital and it was pretty terrible. The floor and shelves seem to be very poorly cleaned... dirt build up a few inches out from all the walls and booths. Drink station was disgusting when we were in, even though there was only 3 tables. The server was more than awkward and didn’t know the menu. She took our order and after taking it, opened the menu and stood at our table in silence for about a minute scribbling on her pad then turned around and left without saying anything. We chalked it up to maybe being a newer server. The food came out (ham and cheese croissant with homefries), and she came back almost immediately and asked how it was. We hadn’t tasted it yet and said it looked ok. Then i took a bite..... it tasted like old grease and had a sour taste. Tried to eat the croissant but it had the same old grill taste. We sat for a bit with neither one of us eating and finally put our napkins on the plate. She came up and asked if we wanted boxes, my response was “not at all”. She laughed and took the plate and walked away. At that point as a server you should probably ask if anything was wrong with it, but she didn’t. We were tired and wanted to get home so we didn’t push it. Aside from the awkward table presence, and terrible food, I would also note that when there are customers sitting in booths you should really watch the conversations you are having at the counter. From personal conversation, to how bad certain cooks are compared to others ...not really something I want to hear as a...
