We were down from Vermont visiting family and found this place through a Google search. It had 4.5 stars so I figured the food would be pretty good. The food was okay but others may have enjoyed their's more (I have stage IV cancer and chemo has made food taste different). What stood out to me was our dark-haired server. Names are hard for me to remember.
My 9 year-old son has a disability and knocked over his cup of ice and, unfortunately, a bit down the road, half a cup of water as well. He cleaned it up but jokingly threw a napkin down too hard on the counter. The server got so mad that she stopped serving us. Another server, who was lighter-haired, had to come over. Both her and a guest next to us (we were sitting at the counter) had to reassure us that it wasn't out fault.
Having been a server, I'm typically understanding. I even still tipped over 20%, even though she made mistakes, and forgot things, but this went too far for my comfort to not say anything. I was going to call but they're closed now.
I don't know if she was having a bad day or what, but I didn't appreciate how we were treated and it wasn't okay how she made my kids' feel. Knocking over a cup of water and being a goof about cleaning it up, pales in comparison to other kids' behavior out at a restaurant. It was an unfortunate situation and I wouldn't...
Read moreI love these old diners! It's just a small place tucked away on a side street in West Springfield. This was our second visit here and it was just as good the first time. It is clean n tidy, has quite an extensive menu of old time classics and their "Specials" are pretty phenomenal. The wait staff are always welcoming, pleasant and efficient. The food portions are large (always enough for a take home container) hot and delicious. It's a great place to start the day or enjoy lunch or dinner I'm sure. Prices are comparable to other area restaurants. An important side note; I'm sure we have ALL noticed rising prices at our favorite restaurant. It's really not necessary to explain why but just in case you have missed history since Covid .. not only have the costs of food and transportation risen substantially, everything from cooking oil to paper products have gotten pricy. Owning/ operating a diner is really a labor of love, there's not much room for profit now adays. Be sure to tip the wait staff and...
Read moreI rarely get to review a REAL good old fashioned diner, that what this place is. I should have taken pictures, but will on next trip for sure. This place is as big a shoe box, with a menu that had to have well over 100 items. Real good old Diner food. I had the Biscuits and Gravy, a Diner staple. A little different, but really good, the sausage was italian style not breakfast style, which yes it ain't southern, but, we are in New England, so kudos on the New England makeover. Everything seems to me scratch made and they even Bake thier own Ham! Only open for breakfast and lunch until 200, but may just be worth a trip for breakfast and lunch. Great prices, great portions. Wait staff really makes you feel like your a regular, and there are plenty of regulars here. Why? The food is made with love and the staff seal the deal. I think Trish was the person who waited on me,...
