What a great experience tonight, and I'm saying this after a 45 minute wait that was initially supposed to be 25 minutes.
When we hit 20 minutes waiting, the hostess came over to speak to us 5 about a booth that opened up, but wanted to make sure we'd be comfortable. I let her know we could wait a little longer for a bigger table. She looked so genuinely sorry when she apologized and we could see her desperately scanning the rooms for an opening for us.
There is a chef that was sooo kind, ensuring me that they were trying to get us seated as quickly as possible. I asked him what the name of a sushi dish was, that he was making, and he said it was The Volcano.
We soon after got seated and our waitress was fantastic. After apologizing for the wait she took our order, repeated it for accuracy, and then brought drinks and dishes just as she had confirmed. As we started eating, a complimentary dish was placed on our table... The Volcano. The Chef wanted to apologize again and gave a complimentary dish of the dish I had just complimented on earlier.
The sushi chefs were sooo stacked with online and in-house orders that they got to our last dish as we were finishing up and paying the bill. My chef that made us the volcano looked so sad that we were boxing up our last dish to take home. I quickly googled how to say thank you for the delicious food, especially the volcano dish, in Spanish because I overheard him speaking Spanish with some customers. I had to let him know that the food was great, the service was great, and the volcano took the experience to another level.
Fat Fish always takes care of me and my family, even my colleagues. Sometimes they get super busy because their food and service is so good. That's why the wait is worth it for us. From the Hello's and smiles given by the sushi chefs, the Welcome to Fat Fish by the Hostess, the great service by the waitresses, and the amazing food from the chefs, Fast Fish creates great dining experiences consistently for us.
If you're looking for great sushi, pho, bento boxes, a great dining experience and more, come in to Fat Fish in...

I had the sashimi special for lunch. It was excellent. Everything that came out from the kitchen looked delicious, and the presentation was some of the best that I’ve seen. My server was very good. There was a little bit of confusion though. I asked about the squid salad. Not being a complete sushi expert, I asked, is it a full salad with greens and such?“ His answer was, “yes, it’s served on a bit of greens. That wasn’t what came. It was squid, with a little bit of green something under it, that was about the size of a small tea cup. When another person brought it out to me, I asked, “I think there’s been a communication gap. I asked if this was an actual salad with greens and such, and I was told yes.“ His response, “ well, this is the way it comes.” “No problem.” I said can I just get a side salad with some of your house dressing on it to go with my meal?” His reply surprise me a bit – “we don’t do that.” “Pardon me?” I asked. “We don’t offer the salad from the bento box as a side.” “Oh… OK… Well, I really need some salad for lunch, do you think you can just take some of the salad and put it in a bowl, put some dressing on it, and then charge me whatever a salad would cost?“ He then told me again that he was pretty sure that they did not allow that. I told him to go ask his boss. He replied, “I AM the boss.” Weird… I worked in the restaurant business for over a decade, my family having owned restaurants while I was growing up. We would never dream of not accommodating a pain customer. Especially for something so easy. The waiter came out, apologize for the misunderstanding, and then let me know that this was a new manager, and did not realize that not only did they offer the salad as a side, but they have been doing it for sometime. When he asked if I would like one, I replied that I would. Overall, an excellent meal. Hopefully, the manager here learns a little bit more about being customer oriented. Again, the food that I had was delicious, and everything that I saw...
Read morethe moment we walked into Fat Fish, it was clear we were about to embark on a culinary journey like no other. Located in the heart of the West Valley City, on 1980 W 3500 S, this sushi restaurant exceeded all expectations with its sleek, elegant ambiance and impeccable service.
Our evening began with a warm welcome from the staff, who were friendly, professional, and attentive without being intrusive. The atmosphere was sophisticated yet inviting, with dim lighting and modern design elements that set the tone for a relaxed yet refined dining experience.
We opted for The Red Dragon, The Imperial, The Playboy, The Jupiter, The DragonBalls, The Firecracker Calamari, The Pho Dac Biet and from the first bite to the last, it was a symphony of flavors. Each piece of sushi was a work of art, meticulously crafted with the freshest ingredients. The fish was so incredibly fresh, it practically melted in our mouths. The pho itself was a glorious medley of textures. Tender slices of rare beef, brisket, and sometimes even tripe and meatballs, add depth and variety to each bite, while the silky rice noodles provide the perfect base, soft yet slightly chewy. Every spoonful delivers a comforting heat, often enhanced by fresh herbs like cilantro and Thai basil, and a squeeze of lime adds a zesty kick. Highlights included everything that was ordered 😂😊😋
What really stood out, however, was the level of care and passion the chefs put into their craft. It wasn’t just about eating; it was about savoring each bite, appreciating the artistry behind each and every bite. The chefs' attention to detail was evident in every piece they prepared, and their pride in their work made the meal feel truly special 💥
Dining at Fat Fish is more than just a meal—it's an experience that engages all the senses and leaves a lasting impression. We can't wait to return and continue exploring their exquisite offerings. Highly recommended for anyone looking to indulge in an exceptional...
