We have been here so many times and loved it. Went in on a Sunday today and were standing in front of a couple. The host asked who was there first and the couple behind us was and on the list. Naturally, they were seated first. No issue here.
We waited about another 10 minutes and they seated a couple that just walked in after waiting about 20 minutes total. When I walked up Thomas was about to seat another larger group and I asked where we were on the list. That was met with an eye roll doubled down with a, “I don’t know. Do you want to be seated or not”? I said, absolutely, but not if it is under the pretense of skipping someone else like we had just experienced and this group was on the list before us and maybe had gone outside to wait or were shopping. He then stated, “Well, you are before them”. So, I asked, then we are further on the list so what is the standard protocol of when you follow the list and don’t”. He rolled us eyes and just walked us to a table.
I asked for a manager and he seemed like this was the first time this sentence has ever been uttered in his presence. So, I explained that someone in charge that makes executive decisions, I would like to have a conversation with that individual. About 10 minutes later (and nobody coming to get a drink order or appetizer order in the interim, not even water) the manager, a friendly gentleman, Min came to speak with us. I explained the patronage and service prior has been stellar along with the food being amazing. I communicated that I understand we all have hard days and that possibly Thomas needed a 5-10 minute breather to reset, or if there are larger issues for him that maybe taking the rest of the day off would be a good idea, rather than ruin a loyal customer or even worse a first time experienced that won’t come back and post on social media and tell their friends. The marketing cost to recoup on something like that is outrageous when breaking down numbers.
Min was very personable and asked what he could do for us. We declined any offers and explained we’d much rather that a problem be fixed and want to see their business succeed so we can keep enjoying great service and food! However, that starts with the first interaction for a customer has and you don’t get a second chance with that. We polite-fully declined anything from the venue and said that today we will be voting with our dollar and enjoying Pho Cali’s next door. (My OG dave spot in UT for this type of food) We hope to see them again and a better improvement from Thomas and their hostess staff and understand everyone has an “off day” from time to time. However, not having self control enough to roll your eyes so hard that I’m concerned he tore a retina....not once, but twice and taking a tone to a customer hay frequents regularly (or irregularly for others) isn’t appropriate in life and especially not in customer service life. Hope you have a better day Thomas and get some proper training from your leadership team and other fellow colleagues on controlling yourself around others when you’re in that spot. It’s a valuable life lesson in general...
Read moreThis review is regarding the recent order I placed on doordash!!!
I placed my order at 7pm, at 7:24 they called me to let me know that my order will be over an hour and asked me to contact doordash to either change dasher (since dasher is already at the restaurant and not happy having to wait that long) or cancel the order. I contacted doordash because if I cancel on my end, I will loose all the tip+service fees.
Doordash rep got in contact with them and confirmed that they received my order. Doordash will change dasher and I am set. Then I’ve been waiting. I notice there are at least 5-6 different dasher taking the order. So the entire time, I couldn’t get any update on my order from dasher and when I call the restaurant, no one was ever there to pick up their phone.
Finally at 9pm, the final dasher called me and said the restaurant is now closed so he couldn’t do anything and cancel my order all together
I can’t be mad at doordash because they have done nothing wrong but to wait like me. So please, the owner of Gossip, please don’t let this happen again to your customers. You’ve lost my business that’s for sure, just don’t make other people wait for over 2 hours with no updated and a sudden...
Read moreLike others have suggested: don't come here for the food, come here for the boba. I have to say that they easily make the best boba smoothies that I've had in the Salt Lake area, and trust me when I say that I've had my share. They offer some really creative options, compared to other places, and they almost always have what you want. In comparison, I've found that a lot of the other places in town that offer boba smoothies are often very limited in what fruits they actually have available for the day. I haven't found that to be the case here. Specifically, I recall a cucumber based smoothie here, on a whim, that was surprisingly delicious and extremely refreshing.
Their food isn't anything to write home about, and felt a little on the pricey side when we ate here. Their service is also average; has never been fantastic, but they aren't exactly rude.
Definitely worth trying. But again, go here for the drinks, not necessarily for the food, from...
