Shout out to West Valley City, UT and all of your seriously grubbin' ethnic eats! Another hotspot I discovered is Catrachos Restaurant ( @catrachosrestaurant.utah ). They serve Salvadoran and Honduran food, from scratch.
When you walk up to the restaurant, it almost looks like it's just a little store, so just walk inside and you'll be warmly greeted and seated. There is a bit of a language barrier, but don't fret, because several of the employees can speak English. They will help you out.
The service is most excellent. The food is out of this world! I love how fresh it all tastes. It's all made from scratch, there's even a sign that reminds you to be patient, because their preparation takes time ~ yes! All about that life!!! There's also a bar and mini-shopping area, towards the front, where you buy some El Salvadoran mementos or desserts and drinks, to go.
This is a really popular place, because I got there at close to 5pm, I was the only one there, then the whole place filled up instantly! Catrachos people and food are really well respected, in the community, because they provide such great food and...
Read moreI've been here many times and it was all good, but tonight we went with my husband to have a pleasant dinner, we got there and ordered pupusas just 4 of them we gave very clear details of our food, the waitress was barely paying attention and was kind of rude, she brought the drinks and my vase was smelling weird like if it was dirty, then she brought our food and it was completely wrong, we have to wait more time so they can make the right order, while a waitress went there to beg us to eat the pupusas they already made, which was super annoying, we waited for the correct order to be ready and then they left and never come back to ask if we needed something else, while getting rude glares from the rest of the staff, we finish and went to pay and they didn't gave us the ticket explaining all charges, and it was almost 40 dollars just for what we ordered didn't make sense but we were so frustrated, that we just left,I used to love this place, but after today I won't think I'll come back the owner was there and she didn't care about anything, staff is the worse, food is overpriced, and don't taste that good, considered all this before you go and have the same situation...
Read moreToday it was a day for pupusas. Catrachos was really close to my location at the time so I decided to give it a try. The restaurant is located on a small strip mall with limited parking but they have a couple of parking spots reserved for clients at the front. First, I have to say that I was greeted respectfully and in a timely manner. After seating I was surprised with a basket of chips, beans and salsa (that is not the standard at most restaurants, so there goes the first PLUS). I didn't ask for a drink so they brought me water. I ordered three pupusas and I am not sure if that is the case all the time but they gave me an extra pupusa as a courtesy. Food was good. The sizes are good but the pupusas were a little too salty for me. Other than that, good!. The restaurant feels comfy and it feels familiar and includes a separated bar at the side. The location is conveniently located at Redwood Road and 3600 S. Service was the best part of my experience as the three people I interacted with, treated me respectfully and nice. I am definitely returning to try...
