We had been to this location a year or so ago and I gave them a pass the first time, thinking maybe they were still in their "growing pains."
The atmosphere looks like someone started to put a bar together, then either gave up or ran out of money... the decor is some kind of attempt at rustic or industrial.
The food is overpriced. The burger at $15 comes with fries, so that's good. But a BLT costing $15? That's too much. Even if you put enough bacon to justify that price, it would be inedible.
The beers? The selection is decent, but no true local beers. Only one WV beer on tap. Pours are TEN DOLLARS?! C'mon.
The service wasn't great. I know she was busy but we saw 2 tables get their food before us.
I ordered the soup and corn bread. The soup came out -- no corn bread. Before it came to the table, I asked if I could get nachos instead (the soup was already eaten). She said it was too late -- to return cornbread that hadn't yet been served. . . .
Thankfully, she didn't ask if I wanted another beer... I probably would have said yes and paid $20.
Ten dollar pours... nowhere else in this town has beer this expensive. Bartini, the restaurant on the other corner of the building, charges HALF...
Read moreI've wanted to try this place since it was open and finally got my chance last night. It was dead at 5pm but filled completely by 630pm. Ambience was excellent (watch where you sit as the evening sun is a killer with all of the front windows). We did three courses 1)Appatizer- Bacon Flight and Bacon wrapped stuffed jalapenos (A-bacon flight was excellent except for the one with blue cheese as the cheese over powered the bacon and left you with a bad after taste. B- Jalapenos were really hot so buyer beware, stuffing and bacon were perfect)
Entree- Stuffed chicken with grilled asparagus and baked potatoe wedges +sauce drizzle. Everything was beyond excellent...... best meal of the last 6 months.
Dessert- Brownie with blueberry ice cream.... huge dissappoment. Brownie was huge and amazing but ice cream was just vanilla with a chocolate and caramel drizzle no blueberries or blueberry taste at all. Actually the most powerful taste in the ice cream was probably a whiskey taste that I believe was coming...
Must issue a warning to patrons and notice to management that the beer menu at the table doesn't always sync with the electronic menu on the wall. I sent one beer in a flite back twice yesterday before I figured this out, couldn't understand why I kept getting a sour when I didn't ask for one. Only then did the server tell us the electronic menu is the right one. That's wasted product and wasted money. My wife also got a pour that wasn't what she expected, so some attention to detail is lacking here. Flites are very pricey at $13, but food is fairly reasonably priced (considering this is a specialty restaurant) and fairly good, and they were generous with the portion size of the sandwiches and the pile of fries. I couldn't finish either. I would have conveyed this message to management directly but there's still no web presence for the Morgantown location except a sporadically updated and basically useless Facebook page, so I hope someone is...
