I visited for the first and last time on 7/24/20 while on lunch with a co-worker. Unfortunately, I was not impressed and they really spoiled my lunch time as they took up all 45 minutes of it... Originally, the waiter brought out the chips and salsa then asked for our drink order (waters) fairly quickly and I had asked for an extra salsa bowl.. However, he then proceeded to take 10 minutes (there were only 4 other people in the restaurant) to take our meal order. I had to say that I wanted the # 6 lunch with BEEF three times then I asked again for an extra salsa bowl because it was clear he had forgotten which I get happens... Another 10 minutes passes and he brings us our meals, but still no salsa bowl so I ask for the THIRD time.. As he presumably goes to get that I start cutting into my single chimichanga which turns out to be chicken. Super frustrated by this point because it's already been 30 mins of my lunch... I flag down the bartender because I couldn't find the waiter and ask him to send the waiter my way. I then have to ask for the correct # 6 WITH BEEF to go as my lunch was nearly up AND I had to ask for the salsa bowl AGAIN!!...
Read moreYou don’t expect to hear “world class mexican food” and WV in the same sentence but this place will quell all your curiosity. I have traveled worldwide, lived in a border town, and consider myself to be pretty demanding when it comes to food. This place knocked my socks off! It’s a hole in the wall you could miss at first glance as it hides next to a giant italian place but you would not regret stepping inside. The walls are sponge painted, the music is mariachi, and there are beer branded maps of Mexico hanging on the wall. It feels 100% authentic if you have ever been to a dive in a border town or in Mexico. The vegetarian enchiladas are to die for. The portions are huge and the service is wonderful. My dining companion had shrimp chimichangas with a goat cheese sauce that practically made me weep. Though I didn’t eat the shrimp- I was astonished at how huge they were! This is a great place and worth stopping into. I’ll miss it and dream about these vegetarian enchiladas when I...
Read moreI usually go to the Rio in Nitro but I visited over the summer it's closer and I liked it and the staff was great. We went a few more times since then it was the same friendly and good food. We went tonight and it was a terrible experience. My husband had the nachos grande and I had the enchiladas. My husband first bowl had a hair in it. He found after like 4 bites. The order was needed up but he didn't mind but the hair was a no go. They brought him another bowl and the meat was so salty he couldn't even eat it. My enchiladas were not good and made completely different than usual. I tried but It just wasn't good for me. We had to Waite for a while for our waiter to even be seen. They offered nothing for our food that we couldn't eat. I payed around 30$ for food we...
