I hadn't been there in years but their "crab/lobster" pureed bisque is very good. We were offered lobster pieces to put in the bisque for an additional $4. because there are no chunks of either crab or lobster in their bisque I was surprised to learn. I feel the bisque should have meat pieces in it and just charge accordingly. I do appreciate the disclosure, however.
The service was scant despite a light crowd at about 5:10 pm. My guest and I ordered the Harry's Special/Combo with fried everything including squid, shrimp, scallops, Haddock, belly clams, fries and onion rings.
This is a tough review as the batter was light which is nice but also bland and slightly gritty as if the flour was not fully dissolved. It was not salty. The squid was tasteless, and tiny, overwhelmed by the batter. Worst of all was the scallops were tough, chewy and decidedly over-cooked. The fish was bland and a bit dried out.
The fries were good and so were the onion rings and shrimp. The unsweetened iced tea with raspberry was quite good but not sugar-free as we had hoped.
The waitress comped me a coleslaw since I complained about a small serving of it that was served with a platter big enough for 3 people. We took some of the meal home.
You'll be happy with the bisque but the fried combo dinner is not something I'd order again at over $38.00. Tiny portion of cocktail sauce. I asked for another along with some horseradish. The waitress kindly brought them to me without delay.
They have many other menu items such as sandwiches of pastrami, roast beef etc but I have not tried them.
The restaurant and bathrooms were clean but only one stall each and the men have to go outside the restaurant to get to the restroom. That's primitive and uncomfortable in the winter and I was told by a regular patron that the men's room has no heat.
I may go back to try other menu items. Perhaps they are tastier.
Almost forgot, we were told to choose a seat as the place was not crowded but we waited about 10 minutes for a menu and were never offered extra napkins or water. Last I checked, fries and onion rings are finger food so extra napkins should come with the meal. I had to get up and find a waitress to ask for...
Read moreHarry's waffle fries are nothing short of define. Perfectly crispy. Airy crisp with that oh so tender potato inside. We opted for cheese and bacon to be added on our order and what a reward it was. Glorious melted cheese cascaded over every fry, topped with delicious, thick cut bacon making every bite a delight. Good luck not eating every single bit.
The misses got a BLT and sweet potato fries and again, a perfect example. Awesomely crisp fries. A Diner BLT it's usually a safe bet and Harry's is no exception. 6 perfectly crisp pieces of bacon (that's right, 6 slices of bacon. You know they mean business when they are piling bacon like a boss) stacked with fresh lettuce and ripe tomato slices between two slices of toasted bread made for a very happy woman. She wasn't even hungry before deciding on Harry's but God help you if you tried pulling any of this food away once it hit the table. You'd lose a finger for real.
The country fried steak left something to be desired IMHO. (meaning: it was pretty horrid so if you enjoy good country fried steak, avoid this dish like you're avoiding covid) The saving grace from the steak was a perfect 80's Diner hot fudge sundae. Well presented with a ton of hot fudge had the misses smiling ear to ear. A friendly staff and a cool atmosphere will have us coming back for a...
Read moreBeen at this place for the very first time with my husband was a bit of an excitement for me and I was looking forward to having a lobster roll . I never had a lobster roll before. I was asked did I want my lobster roll cold with mayonnaise or if I wanted it hot with butter I said hot with butter the price was around $32-$34 and the meal came with french fries and onion rings and coleslaw. I did not like their coleslaw it was terrible I don't even know they mixed with it but it's gross I did not want french fries but I'm glad I had them because the onion rings were Taste good at all no seasoning on them. Also it was quite cold the AC kept running a lot and it Cooled down my food quickly. Also inside of my lobster roll was at the bottom lettuce which I don't like lettuce warm on my hot food nor was I told that lettuce was gonna be underneath my hot lobster meat if I was told that that was gonna be the case then I would've said leave the lettuce out Cause it was all limping and nasty . So lesson learned for the price I paid for my meal was it worth it no it was not I should've just asked for the lobster roll by itself and if they had said no I couldn't have it that way then that would've been bad on them cause I wouldn't have ordered it at all so one to 1- 10 , give this place in my opinion for...
