George and Leons — Restaurant in Westbrook

My partner and I dropped in for the first time during lunch time on a Saturday and the place was poppin' - a sure sign of good things to come. We were just getting takout and decided to split the Super Beef with fries and a can of soda. $22 for all that, so we assumed it would be a decent portion.

It was busy, so we didn't mind waiting in the cool atmosphere they've got going on (a comfy couch to sit on too). We were instructed that our order would be called out when it was ready, however, it became very clear that the volume of the music would be too loud to hear well. I felt like I had to stand too close to people eating in order to hear if my order was called.

When the food did come out, we took it to our car to dive in. Immediately, we were disappointed with the size of the sandwich we just paid $16 for. No more than a toasted bulky roll with meat, cheese, and barbeque sauce. Toppings were extra. Fries cost extra. Even pickles cost extra. The flavor of the sandwich was fine, but the fries were delicious.

All in all, the staff were super friendly, helpful, and professional. The area was clean, there was plenty of seating, and the aesthetic was really cool. The food was pretty good, but the prices were honestly prohibitive for what we got and the music was too loud to comfortably have a conversation, let alone with someone who may be hard of hearing. I don't MIND paying that much for a sandwich, but I would have liked for more things to be included in that, like...

I'd been driving by this place for months not actually knowing what kind of restaurant it was. Boy am i glad I googled it! The origin story of North SHore beef was not something I knew but being a dedicated carnivore, I thought the risk of disappointment was low. Boy was that right. This place serves up perfectly cooked (read medium rare) roast beef sandwiches which are the messiest thing you will ever see and the most delicious you will ever eat. I almost could not finish the Big Beef but I slowed down and got methodical! The Creole fries were just right as well. The Roast Beef sandwich was hands down the best I have ever had. The menu is limited, but that is because they put so much love into the items they have, seriously you gotta check this place out. I love the decor in the restaurant and bathroom, I'll let you check it out to appreciate it fully!
